Crosseurs!
Is Ford charging more for the Boss in Canada, or is the additional cost because of taxes, regulations, etc. that the Canadian govt. imposes on them that they have to pass on through the price?

Ford is charging more... MSRP is about $8000 more than US MSRP and federal and provincial taxes are on top of that...

No duties since the car is North American.
100$ A/C tax (on the window sticker)
Markup is before sales taxes.
There are increased costs for staffing due to payroll taxes. I'm not sure where we stand with respect to corporate tax, but it's not far off. Increased share of marketing costs because of smaller market size.
Most of it is big fat markup though.

WTF.

I purchased a Boss through a Canadian Dealer (that cost me about $8000 more than US MSRP) but am not eligible to attend. This is a huge disappointment. Frankly I almost can't believe it.

About two weeks before cobrajetjoe started this thread I had already made a date with MMS and had sent them all the info they requested like vin no. date of purchase and dealer info with their address which clearly states I am in Canada. I had also called them to arrange a paying guest and they accepted the deposit. But I have received this email below.

I was just notified by our assistant here and she noted that you purchased your vehicle from a Canadian dealership and do not qualify for the BTA program. Can you confirm for me that you did purchase the vehicle from a Canadian dealer or did this dealer just facilitate your purchase from a U.S. dealer? This is an issue since Ford Canada chose not to participate in the BTA program subsidizing and so vehicles bought through Canadian dealers are not eligible. However, as far as I know, Ford was not exporting Boss 302s to Canada in July when you received your car. So, this means your car may have been purchased from a U.S. Dealer and I need to get that dealer name to list as the dealer you purchased your car from.

I did not post early that I had confirmed a date at MMS because I was hoping that this issue would be resolved either way before I got in contact with MMS but they have now contacted me so I am hoping an answer is forthcoming sooner then later because I have other plans centered around the Track attack.I have also contacted the dealership and they said they would look into it as well and yes I purchased a Canadian Boss.

Hello Members,

Sad news… The info posted above by DCA911, is correct. The main issue here was that most of you were getting your TracKey info from FordRacingParts.com which is a U.S. based site and showed no specifics as to the Canadian Market.

Ford of Canada chose not to participate in the Boss Track Attack Program and therefore did not advertise they would either. I know this is frustrating for you all. However, each country has its individual policies and I can’t change them. The BTA site made sure they posted who qualifies for the program in their FAQ section.

I’m sure you all will still continue to enjoy your rides to the fullest.

Well I suppose we (Canadians) just made an assumption that we would be included. My dealer never said anything about TA and I don't recall seeing in on Ford Canada's website. So we can complain but I doubt it's gonna go anywhere.

It's just VERY CHEAP of Ford Canada to do this to us. Vote with your wallets and don't buy another Ford, then send a copy of your sales receipt (from a different auto maker) to Ford Canada.

Good for them. I wonder who ate the bill for that one.

Send a copy of your bill of sale to Ford of Canada and tell them that their cheap ways just cost them a sale. Send a copy to your dealer as well and let them know what this has cost them also.

Of course Ford and Mazda are partners so it miight not be the same as buying a Honda, etc.
