Buy a Boss or wait for a GT Prem Conv. that's on order?

Talked to my dealer today and they have a white Boss 302 that I could go ahead and buy or just wait for a DIB GT Conv. that is on order.
Here's the problem, the wife really wants a convertible and neither of us are enamored with white vehicles.
I drove the Boss today and I have to admit, it is pretty cool.

The convertible won't be here for 3 or 4 weeks.

What do you guys think as Boss owners, ignore the white and take the plunge or go with my original order for the GT Conv.?????

ps... I need some compelling reasons to convince the wife that a Boss is better than a Convertible!!

Thanks

While I love my Boss and wouldn't take a GT Vert over it, in the interest of marital harmony for years to come, get the GT. Otherwiswe you will never hear the end of it.

:agreed:
Wait for the vert. Especially since the wife is expecting to enjoying it also. You won't hear the end of it otherwise.

trust me... don't settle on a color you aren't really into just to have a car. I did that and owned the Red Candy 2010 Mustang GT Premium for 4 months.....

There are many reasons on why a BOSS is better than a GT 'vert but primarily for never ending high-performance nirvana... so I'd get the BOSS for those reasons. However for pure droptop bliss, then the 'vert... this is arguably the only main compelling reason on why the convertible is better than a BOSS. They may be from the same RNA lineage, so to speak... but rather upon birth they have entirely different DNA.

Find a Boss 302 in a color you both like and BUY it. My wife loves to go in the Boss and I never get to take my Shelby anymore. If her heart is really set on the drop top then you are pretty well committed to that or i agree - you will never hear the end of it. But, make sure she gets a ride in the Boss first...

If the test drive in the Boss wasn't enough to convince you that you needed to own one, get the convertible. Are you ok with giving up all the extra options you can get on non-Boss Mustangs? Important considerations for a 45k car.

Wait for the GT Vert! First, if the car is also for your wife and she really wants a convertible, then she will find reasons to dislike the Boss. Second, never settle for a color you don't like, you will end up regretting it.

I've had verts before; vettes, etc. so a couple of ???

1. Have you and your wife owned a vert before? If so, how many times did you actually use it?
2. Some women don't want their hair messed up; so driving with the top down becomes a situation in itself. May not apply to you/her

3. the Boss will drive circles around the GT. Every day driving will be a pleasure and a great experience.

4. Uniqueness and potential of resale value. I live in the Dallas area and seen one other Boss in the last 7 weeks. The Boss is a limited production vehicle. You can always buy a GT Vert at any time. Now is the time to buy a Boss 302.

5. If you don't like the White you can find other colors, if you are willing to look.

I'd go with your heart originally, but if your heart has now changed towards the Boss, you'll never be happy with the latter. You'll always look back and say '****, I wish I got the...' If you want to drive, there's a dealer here near Fort Hood that has a Red Boss and a black Boss Laguna Seca

Many women really dont care what type of Mustang it is. But they like convertibles. I say get the Vert. I had a 2010 for the wife, traded it in and I drive a Boss.Wife loves the color but she would rather have a vert.
If its a car for both, get the vert. Happy marriages are worth it.

Wow Really great responses and logic, the general consensus is to get the vert, and Boss949 made some great points about resale and the uniqueness of the Boss, and we have never owned a vert so it will a totally new experience.
My wife is pretty cool about not worrying about her hair in the wind, and yes she can drive a manual, she grew up driving manuals.
I am a speed guy, love going fast and carving corners, I know the Boss will be better at handling but it will probably get me in more trouble as well!

Decisions decisions!!!!

If they made a DIB 2013 Boss I would already own it.

Marital bliss is leaning me towards the vert.

Thanks for all the input, this is a pretty cool forum!!!!

Having owned a Honda S2000 for 10 years (great car, btw) and a present 2012 Boss 302 owner, I would get the coupe. The number of days you'd want to drive top down are fewer than you'd think. In summer the sun will cook you red as a lobster, in winter it's too cold. Summer nights are perfect though.

Admittedly, not everyone wants to track their car (why not?), but with the convertible Mustang the choice is made for you. Frankly, I'd never get a 400+ muscle car just to trundle around on public roads, a Focus ST would be lot more enjoyable for that sort of duty. Driving around a Mustang Boss 302 or GT in anger on public streets will land you in the back of a police cruiser in short order.

Get the coupe, track it a couple times a year and become a better driver.

I wouldn't get a vert mustang period. Why not a boxster or a z4, which were designed to be a convertible since inception.

Boss all the way....
