Burning Oil/Engine Noise

hello all was just looking for info and came across this thread and just wanted to give my input. i have a mazdaspeed 3 but my motor has fomoco stamped everywhere soooo im a ford guy? well anyways would love to get into a 302.
doesn't the 302 have forged pistons? That will explain the oil consumption and noise (piston slap).
forged pistons have a larger piston to wall clearance due to the expansion when up to temp. Piston will slap and have more blow by when cold.
i bet you consume more oil on short drives and colder weather. Let the engine warm up a little more and go easy on it till its up to temp.

The Boss has forged internals, but not the regular 5.0.
