Boss With Recaro's, Some ???
Hey Guys, after finding out the Boss will run on 87 octane it is on my radar screen Vs the GT. I drive 7-800 miles a week for business & have a few questions on the Recaro's.
I enter & exit my car 30-40 times a day calling on clients. Is the entry & exit easy or do the bolsters interfere? My Cobra Vic with the Recaro is very intrusive, but being a toy it is not an issue.
I'm 6'1" and like a lot of support down my leg real close to my knees, how does the Recaro fit in that area?
Overall comfort on long trips?
Thanks in advance.

If you are going to put those kind of miles on it I would go with the standard seats. I am 6'2" and and a big guy and the seats are comfy and hold you well but my legs do get kind cramped from the lower bolstering. If you have to get out a lot you will wear the cloth out I think because it's not as easy to get in and out of like my 06 GT. The seats hold you in and don't want to let go.
I am not sure I would want to put in a drive of more than a few hours in the BOSS where I have drove 21 hours strait in my GT because it's comfortable to drive.

I have a Boss with the standard seats. One of the reasons that I decided to go with them rather than the Recaros is that I anticipate 99% of my driving will be on the road and not the track. In the first 1,000 miles that I have put on my car, the standard seats have been very comfortable for road use and sufficiently supportive for somewhat aggressive (7/10ths) driving. If I go to the track for some 9/10ths action, I'll just use CG Locks.
If you are serious about putting 750 miles/week on your car, get the standard seats. Constantly getting in and out of the Recaros would be torture.

I have the Recaros and would not trade them. I drove 500+ miles to pick my car up in 2011 with leather seats and back in the Boss with Recaros. I was shocked how comfortable on the drive the Recaro seat was. I'm 6'2" tall and I have no issue getting in and out.
If you are getting in and out of the car that much I would say standard seats. The Recaros are great but getting in and out is the worst part with them. I am the same height as you and and the side bolster is pretty high for me. Once I am in they are great.
its all in how far back you put the seats. i have a friend that is very large (300plus) and he fit in the recaros just fine . my cousin is also very tall, 6'7" and about 280 and he fits just fine. You have to put the seat back or lean the back far enough that you don't scrape across the side bolster each time. If you can get it in the right position and learn the entrance technique where you go in **** first you are golden. it takes a bit of getting used to, but i rarely scrape the bolsters any more.
I'm 6'3" 210 more leg than torso and although the Recaro's are comfortable, they do not hold you secure enough for racing compared to a race Recaro or Sparco. On the other hand, the constant in and out ends up pinching my left leg so they definitely have some depth to them keeping you somewhat planted. I would agree that the regular seats would service you better for constant in/out.

I agree.

Last night at a dealership, I sat in a Shelby with leather Recaros. They were nowhere near as snug as my Boss's Recaros and I attribute this not only to the fabric/material but I'm convinced that the spacing between the bolsters is wider. I asked a salesman if he knew and got a dumb stare. They were much easier to get in and out of, and if you really want Recaros and want to avoid scraping your left butt cheek (and don't mind paying $9,000 more), perhaps you should consider a Shelby.

Believe it or not I haven't even been in a newer one than my buddies 96. Everyone out here drives imports. They just closed the last domestic car dealer in SF. Mercifully I live an hour away from there. Those folks are straight up crazy.

What does a set of new Shelby Recaros run? I guarantee if you took the stock Boss Recaros out and put them in plastic bags for the future they will be worth a lot more money. How much money would have to be calculated by a finance guy like 5 DOT 0. Just another way to "diversify the portfolio." Heck I have NOS 2nd and 3rd gears for a Falcon T10 sitting on the shelf as an investment. As my dad who invests in his antique cars says, "the stock market might crash but I'll always have my cars."
