If I were to switch wheels for any reason, it would be for BOSS302R wheels.

I liked the wheels, wish they were flat and completely black, but not as bad as I thought they would be in person.

Wow, that's brutal. Did they know you had a car on order? These people apparently overslept for their sales training. "HER" car??? wtf. Um, I think it's Ford's car assuming it's preproduction. Why would Ford invest money in an auto show to run customers off?

Yes, I told them I had one on order, what helped my request was I recognized the name tag on the regional rep for our area so I stuck my hand out and identified myself and her (not the same *****) response was, oh yeah your the BOSS GUY???!!! and he THE JERK gave me a MINUTE of seat time.

Bummer. Fortunatelly I ran into much nicer Ford reps in San Jose. I sat in the black LS for about 10 minutes and my wife and kids were in the car as well. I did not ask to pop the hood as I saw the engine at the Sacramento auto show. Hopefully cloud9 has better luck.

So you're going to be changing your forum name to BOSS GUY then ...... Unfortunately my regional rep would be Minneapolis, so probably no luck getting my dealer to put in a word for me to the guy that will be at the show. Hopefully I get some friendlier folk. What happened to Midwest nice?!

I accidentally found out who she was, so, I sent her questions concerning the BOSS, along with information I had, I guess she thinks of me as that BOSS GUY since we never met before today.

That should totally be your license plate. And you should send pics to the zone rep when it comes in!

Auto SHOW, as in "display". Cars are SOLD at dealerships, a great place to sit in a car and pop the hood and paw all over it any way you would like.

Sounds like one minute more than you were supposed to get.

Keep in mind many of these cars are pre-production cars which have mismatched parts, i.e. engines, interior pieces, etc. Ford doesn't want people to see the cars before they are "ready", but wants them on display so people can see what they will look like.

This is heavily advertised portraying the main theme of the show as being able to examine different manufacturer's cars without pressure from salesmen (they still pester you) the layout is set up for a sit in me format, the cars they don't want you messing with are on pedestals or roped off, the BOSS was out in the open with all the other Fords, except for pedestal cars.

I've seen pictures of other shows where they at least show the darn engine or let people sit in them for a dyno type thrill.

Whats the point of seeing a TAPE JOB, which the BOSS is without showing off the engine and opening the door for a look at the interior, I should have went to a local dealership and looked at a 6-banger Mustang "FOR A MINUTE" because they look basically the same or just look at pictures here?

While I understand these are not production cars they were open at the L.A. auto show so no excuse for them not to be open at other shows. Plus the press got to sit inside them at their unveiling at LS last August.

Different cars different shows. I know how they are "advertised and portrayed". I know their purpose, and it's not necessarily to let every person climb through every car. When possible it's great. Ford sets the rules, and they do their best with what's available IMO.

The show was staffed by several Ford dealership salespeople. Most were polite and knowledgeable. They were all interested in selling cars just like when realtors host open houses. They were passing out cards and gauging interest. I explained to the Ford representative that I had a Boss on order and really wanted to make sure I was going to want the Recaro seats. He was cordial and said he'd open it up for me if I would get in and out as quick as practicable since once he opened it, the crowd would descend on it. The seats were extremely comfortable and provided great shoulder and head support. There is an excellent range of adjustability as well.

Jeep was trying to get people to test drive vehicles and some manufacturers were offering show special discounts, so it was definitely a car SELLING environment.

There were two dealerships that I met with unsold allocations. The first is Baxter Ford and they have a Competition Orange ordered. The other one is Atchley Ford and they have a Laguna Seca ordered in black. The salesman at Atchley is Paul Altman (402) 574-2600. I told them I'd post up the info for those still looking, but I didn't push them on a selling price.

A manufacturer displays them to garner interest, obviously, from potential buyers. The local salespeople that work the shows are under instruction to absolutely NOT talk price, discounts, etc. It obviously happens, but the seasonal auto shows are to DISPLAY the new models. The manufacturers depend on the dealers to sell them at the dealerships.

It sounds as if you had a very good experience and were fortunate enough to find a rep who allowed you to bend the rules a bit.

I agree with you.

Sometimes rules can be bent, case in point, 1999 I flew to the NAIAS just to see the Honda S2000, which was still be paraded around as a concept car, I had tons of information about the car and after talking with the Honda representative about the car and the fact that I knew more about the car than, it's another Honda.

I explained I was seriously gonna purchase one as long as I felt I would be comfortable in the cockpit, plus i informed him that I flew in from the Midwest just to see and sit in the S2000.

I got my seat time and consequently I purchased one, would I have still purchased without the test seating, probably, but it sure was nice getting treated with respect as apposed to the looking down the nose at me attitude I received from the FORD reps at the Omaha show, they could & should have been more diplomatic and explained there situation, instead they treated me like ****, probably because I was dressed in Blue Collar Attire instead of a suit.

In this case I'm glad they did. It's not an unreasonable request since most of us have had to order without the luxury of seeing one on a dealer showfloor since they have yet to begin production.

No one from ford, could tell me what color the BOSS is, some thought RED some thought ORANGE. The lighting at the show (Omaha) is terrible all the red camaros looked Orange, only metallic looked kinda red, my camera is displaying what I saw.

I posted photos of this exact car in the same lighting from other side of the vehicle over here: http://bossmustangsonline.com/boss-3...ow/msg939/#new It is a race red car! It looks more red from the other side with slightly different lighting. However, it still has an orange cast to the paint.
