That would be me. They are the best bang for the buck track car out there as there's nothing that will run with them below $150k. That said I agree the new ones will push 90 at least for the first year or two after they're available. That's a lot of $ to potentially wad up on the track. I have a lot of friends that have Vette track cars, but as for the waxer crowd I have to agree with the previous posts. It's too bad since I'd probably consider one otherwise. It's amazing the ego some of them have over a "budget" sports car lol.

That seems to be the issue you run into with Z06 owners, don't think I have met that many that aren't cocky, and yet they never drive the car.

I've killed a few Z06's and they lose that attitude real quick. They won't even make eye contact when you slow down and let them catch up.

Ha I figured someone would be offended, I don't mean any disrespect by it. I know V6's can be stupid fast, the GTR for instance. I just grew up with Mustangs being V8's and don't personally like them any other way.

But for a shade over 23k (base with Performance Package) you can't beat the bang for buck...hell you could buy 3 or 4 for what the new vette will cost out the door....(though I do like the looks of the new one)....this car would smoke many of the "muscle cars" from the day.....may not have the kick you in the a** torque but a mid 13 second quarter mile ain't too shabby...

Well you can buy a used terminator or a Z06 for the same money so I call it fair.

True the new V6's are fast compared to old school muscle, I just don't like the sound of an American V6, again not that the V6's are bad cars, just not my preference.

True, but did Chevy underrate the Z06 on hp/tq? I would choose an 03/04 Cobra over the same year Z06 any day.

Would I have rather had the V8, oh hell yeah, but I didn't have an extra 7 grand...and it doesn't sound too bad with the Ford Racing Mufflers....and my insurance was a heck of a lot cheaper....hell I had a 64 GTO 389 Tri-Power as well as many other pretty fast cars ( Charger/Trans Am/Z-28/87 Mustang GT) and this car is faster than all of them...ha, my 79 Mustang Cobra V8 only had about 140 hp!!!!

Me too but just for the power. Early 2000's Z06 is a great looking car. No doubt about that.

I have a colleague with a '04 Z06. We go to the track together. He's not the least bit cocky, but may be because he also owns this:

This, but more so the '13 Boss in either Grabber Blue or Screaming Yellow for me.

That, or because he is part of the subset that aren't cocky.

He was a Mustang owner first, that is probably the reason

Here is a pretty detailed vid on the new C7. I have a C6 Z06/ZR1 on my wish list but might have to wait for the C7. I like it significantly more.
