You guys.

The Vette is a bad *** car. No denying. It has just two seats. The main reason I own a cobra instead of a Vette. It's a great performer. Hell as long as you're still buying American I ain't hating on you.

I always wanted a vette. I went to test drive and couldn't fit in it!

No joke. I sat in a S2000 for kicks and to appease a pushy car salesman. Long story short. I got stuck and needed help to get out.

Divine intervention most likely.

I test drove an Anniversary Vette (forgot which one) and was un-impressed.

I loved my 2004 Corvette, it had power, comfort, cool features, like the heads up display, and it got as good as 34 mpg hwy on a trip. I didn't like GM's **** poor quality, stuff broke, squeaks, rattles wind noise, oil leaks, the usual GM BS.

I do love the style of the new C-7 Stingray though, I can see having one of those in the future, neat car. They are NEVER worth what GM asks for them new, I bought mine 3 years old, $54K list, I paid $27K with 30K miles. I owned the car 6 years, I got $18K out.

I too would trade/sell my Boss for a Z06, but then again there is no way I could afford a Vette since the new ones will be around 100k or so. Then again if ever possible I would trade/sell my Boss for a Porsche GT2 RS or a Pagani Zonda R or maybe a Lamborghini Sesto Elemento, but those are all pipe dreams.

Keep the Boss, the car and the community that supports Mustangs are the best. Take it from someone who was once in your position, I sold my '93 Cobra when I had kids for some of the same reasons and have regretted that decision.

Where did you get this 100k figure from? I don't believe the base vette will be any where near that amount.

Gonna be $70k easy. $80k will probably be average. Close enough.

The estimates I've seen have all had the base vette at under $60k.

So the Shelby will reach the price of the Vette? Something ain't right there. I don't see the new Vette body under $70k.

Ok I should have said Z06, since I wouldn't buy just a base Vette, which start around 80 and just get more expensive the more you put on it. Now my post is corrected, ha.

5300 premium on base over current car. They are trying to push that under 5K.

Yep. But the options will be many, and add up quickly.

I like the Boss, but it's not my dream car. I know it will be left behind at some point.

The new 'vette has my interest peaked. I want to see what the Z06 performance numbers are.

Btw, in Friday's NYTimes they had the base Vette coming in around 56k. An absolute bargain for the performance you get.

I agree they are a steal at that number, but does anyone actually buy a 'Vette at that price? Magnetic ride control is ~$2k, preferred equipment pack with the HUD is ~$6k-$10k (depending on how pimped you want the interior). I can't imagine getting out the door for less than $65k on a "base" Corvette.

Maybe some people would buy the base car just to have the new styling in their garage. Seems silly to me.

It would be silly IMO. I feel like buying a base Corvette is like buying a V6 Mustang, nothing wrong with them, but I feel like if your going to get a Vette you should do it big and get the Z06.

The Z06 is an awesome car but not everyone can afford the extra 20-25k premium.
