During our Autoweek test drive, we thoroughly enjoyed all 444 hp from the 2012 Mustang Boss 302. Laguna Seca... 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302, an Autoweek Drivers Log Car Review
EDITOR WES RAYNAL: I love that Ford did a new Mustang Boss 302. It's a classic nameplate and one that deserved reviving. The weather basically ruined my drive--with the wet roads, I sat there watching the traction-control light blink on and off and hoping I didn't slide into the car next to me. Had it been dry...

My favorite quote and I would also take a Z06 over a ZR1:

"ROAD TEST EDITOR JONATHAN WONG: And this Boss 302 is the Mustang I would buy. Yes, even over the supercharged GT500 with the 550 hp and save $8,500. I look at this Boss 302 in the same light as the Chevrolet Corvette Z06. The idea behind both cars is similar, being track-oriented with specific suspension and chassis tweaks and naturally aspirated V8 engines. So it should come at no surprise that I would take a Z06 over a ZR1 if given the choice."

He must be poor, otherwise he would buy the GT500.

Good article. But I don't ever remember being able to afford a new muscle car (way back when) working summer jobs. Couldn't then and still can't now. A kid would be lucky to afford an old beater on summer wages. Plus, the Boss is an upper level SE which puts it out of reach for many adults with a good full time job! A bargain nonetheless, especially for what you are getting. A good review overall!

You know, the thing about the speedometer is totally true. I hate the way the numbers and hash marks are laid out, I always think I'm going faster on the highway than I am. That's my biggest gripe, along with no Sync (ducks for cover).

As much as I wanted SYNC my new BT ear bud works great so it's not a big deal. My only complaint is the instrument cluster and it's horrible IMO. While I appreciate the whole retro look I can also live without it. I'd much rather have usable instruments especially while driving fast. The instrument pack in my Honda Odyssey is way better than what's in our Mustangs.

I can honestly say that if the Boss had SYNC I would not have bought one. Why would anyone want that crap microsoft junk?

Yes, the gauges are really biggest gripe on the whole thing. I love everything else.

Never noticed the gauge issue so after reading this I took the car for a drive. And they didn't bother me at all. Maybe the difference between a Metric and Imperial dash?

I've had Sync is (3) previous vehicles (2-Mustangs, 1 Flex) and I can honestly say I never had any issues with them.

I personally would have preferred the Sync be available but it obviously didn't stop me from buying my Boss anyway.

I just can't stand voice recognition. I hate it when you call some customer service number and they insist I have to "tell" their machine what I'm calling about. Just let me press a #$%$@#$ button!!! Yes, I'm talking to you, AT&T!

And I'm working of cleansing my life of all things Microsoft. Life without Windows is wonderful. Who would have thought PCs could work so well!
