Kendall, will ARP do a run of shorter studs with a reasonable minimum order quantity? The stud kit is a good one but the studs themselves simply don't need to be that long. You'd have to have either some crazy offset/rotor hat combination to use much more of the available thread. By eye, my WAG has me thinking at least 3/4" could be lopped off without issue and still leave plenty of room for some sort of freaky upgrade.

+1 to that.
Would be great to get them made short enough for closed end lug nuts for street use to improve the looks.
Gorrilla makes 1.9" ones.

On the track, open end would be fine.
Kendall, thoughts?

Why would you want shorter ones?

I agree but can see the point they are bringing up, for some that would work. The factory lugs suck, IMO. They always get stuck in the socket, the open end ones do not.

I'm not sure of all the reasons that the studs are so long but they certainly had a choice of what length to use. Look are subjective... I think the look killer. Very serious. I don't know where it rtanks on the list of "whys", but the added length makes it such that the wheel will NOT fall off once you lift it up and set it on the studs. Also, it is easier to avoid hitting the caliper and scratching the caliper, the wheel, or both.

How long does the stock stud protrude measured from the rotor hat?

That and just plain easier to line up and mount at the track when it's hot and you are tired

Perhaps the added length is to accommodate wheel spacers. I think the 302R wheels use a spacer.

Steeda makes a 2.5 inch ARP stud and can be bought from Steeda or CJ Pony Parts. Looking at the stock studs they may be long enough to accommodate a 5mm spacer, if not I'll probably go with the 2.5 inch length as that should be plenty of length to accommodate a 5mm spacer up front.

It should be noted that the Steeda ARP studs have a slightly different knurl diameter @ .625"
