Aluminum drive shaft?
Has anyone gotten one of the aluminum drive shafts? I am thinking it might be a good mod, and like the shifter bushing insert too. Has anyone gotten either of these?

Love my DSS alum shaft. Just feels peppier, no more driveline thunk, and 21 lb less weight. Have the orig anchor in a crate, next to the pile of other useless parts (low expansion brake hoses, sound tube, etc).

This is a very basic, easy remove and replace install. I would expect a 1-2 hr labor charge max, that any garage can do. I'd avoid the Ford dealership. The stock shaft has a sticker on it that reads 'SCRAP IF DROPPED', so plan ahead on carefully storing the stock shaft if you want to hang onto the OEM parts. I had my handyman build me a crate out of scrap lumber, as he was doing some work in my kitchen.
Don't forget to measure the shaft tolerance after installation as per the included instructions to make sure it's within spec. The installer needs to do this once the car is off the lift. I was freaking out when I took the first measurement in my neighbor's driveway, then realized the suspension was uncompressed as we had the car up on jack stands. Doh! Once on the ground, it measured out fine.
You will love it, but what is weird trying to describe just how it 'feels better', but it does! FYI you will lose the dreaded clunk noise of the stock shaft, but you will have a different set of creaks that you don't get with the 2 piece OEM unit. Nothing major at all, but noticeable in cold weather.

I recently had installed a Dynotech aluminum DS and the Whiteline transmission bushing and cannot recommend both enough!
As for the DS, the engine definitely spins up faster in gear, the shaft is balanced perfectly, the low speed clunka clunka is pretty much gone, and, surprisingly, the differential whine that I was getting at 75-80mph after I installed my Steeda UCA and bracket has been eliminated (I expected an increase in NVH with the DS).
The WL transmission bushing is great, too. In neutral, I feel a slight increase in vibration if I rev the motor but every other time I haven't noticed any issues. Plus, I can do 7500rpm shifts all day long without a lockout unlike before.
As for cost, I had a local Mustang shop install both (along with a Stiffler's DS loop) and it only took 1.5 hours and he was very meticulous (I watched and talked to him the whole time).

I am glad that I could help you with your decision!
One thing to look out for with the Whiteline insert is some guys are getting some more serious NVH issues than I have experienced. If you look at SVT forums you can find out more and also how to quell the issues.
Good luck!
John
