I'd pine for a January release. Boss....er...HiPo 5.0 engine, same suspension, Recaro's, etc. No stickers, no stripes. Simple options added back into the program. MSRP lower than what the Boss' was. A rather sneaky way to get the performance back out there without lining dealer's pockets or raising much attention from those that don't need to know.

Bring Plain Jane back!

Call it the LX. Dealers aren't (that) dumb. They'd still mark it up....

I'm just glad its over! That was a long stressful three and half years since I heard about them coming out. 1st, would it be affordable by my blue collar ***? 2nd, would they really be a worthy tribute to the original? 3rd, would the planets align and mama approve? 4th, would Ford keep its word of the limited run? Whew, now I can relax!!!

Yes, No, You need your moms approval on a car purchase, Ford didn't want to lose money any longer than 2 years.

Does Chevy still claim they have never made money on the Corvette?

Joe, you are extremely dependable. And predictable. But I am amused that you love trolling the Boss threads, like an elementary boy who hides a frogs in the desk of the girl he secretly has a crush on.

That's interesting. So this week's BOSS jab is based on Ford's willingness to lose money? If true, it would just make me like Ford even more for offering a product at a cost far less than its true value. Thanks, Ford!!

I guess when you make all that $$ off the Shelby guys, it feels good to be able to give back to the community.

You don't think Ford actually makes money on 3000 boss mustangs, do you?

Where did you see or hear that Ford was losing money on the Boss 302?

EDIT, nevermind. I just now read your above post.

My bet is that the poor economy has impacted sales as well.

I am happy to have a limited edition car, but the Transmission could be better.

With any luck then I will be able to pick up a few more.

History repeated itself beautifully with the '12 being a homage to the '69, and the '13 being an homage to the '70. All the planets aligned perfectly for a short while.

Besides........I suspect a lot of tech seen in the Boss 302, and more desides, may well make it to the GT for '15
What TT says.

Don't forget that just because Ford discontinues the Boss and spent the R&D on the engine, the engine won't just disappear. It'll continue to be sold and built as a crate engine. And I'm sure this engine will become very popular in the future as current models of GT's start to age and find themselves on the drag strip in the future. I can see this engine being frequently dropped in to replace stock Coyote's not up the rigors of the track life.

I wasn't implying that they were dumb. They're profit motivated and I understand that. My point was that I'd like to see the engine and suspension as options with no additional nomenclature beyond the GT tag. Screw the ADM crap. Make a simple deal on the car and check off the engine/suspension boxes you want. The way it used to be many years ago and the way it could be in 2014 with this car.

As far as I know, Ford has not informed the media they will discontinue the Boss after the 2013 model year. Maybe Ford can save face and say the information sent to dealers about the discontinuation of the Boss was an error. I would think the large Ford dealers would pressure Ford to keep the Boss in production. The original Boss 302 from 1969 and 1970 were discontinued to make way for the Boss 351. Since there is no Boss 351 scheduled to be produced, there is no logical reason to discontinue a model of the Mustang that was so highly acclaimed and desired by the consumer.

"that was so highly acclaimed and desired by the consumer" I believe you're over selling it. If Ford thought it was that, they would have made more. The kept it low for a reason, it's all they could sell.

Is the forged 5.0L motor dead too? I really could care less about the Boss but I'm upset if the forged engine is scratched.
