Advice / Opinions wanted...
Hi Guys -
I figured I post this up in the BOSS 302 section as I'm going under the assumption that most of you track your cars. I currently own a track pack equipped 2013 GT and would like some opinions from those who have either modified their Boss's or GT's and track them regularly. I've been track driving for 20 years and while I generally run in the advanced group, I feel as though I'm really pushing the car in the stock form when running with Z06's, 911's and all other manner of high end car and was wondering what others have done to enhance the cars performance from a suspension, brake and tire point of view. Now granted, if I could've purchased a Boss, I would've however it just wasn't in the cards, so please no "You should've just bought a Boss 302 or Laguna Seca".
Right now the only updates to the car have been a set of stainless brake lines front and rear and some Motul RBF600 fluid, everything else, including the pads and tires are stock.
Mod I: I've been thinking about going with the FR3 adjustable handling pack from Ford Racing but was looking for some opinions. The goal is eliminate some brake dive, quell some of the body roll during corner to corner transitions, and stiffen up the overall suspension a bit (it's a bit soggy stock).
Mod II: I'm obtaining a set of wheels from 2007 spec Parnelli Jones Mustang as well - specs are 19x9 / 19x10 running a 275/30/19 and 285/40/19 - these were stock sizes for the Parnelli Mustang - the pilot super sports come in these sizes as well.
Mod III: Just a set Hawk HP+ or HPS pads.
Again - this is what I was "THINKING" but would love to hear opinions from those who have been down this road before and have done mods that they've been happy with and what their results were.
Thanks so much and looking forward to hearing from members!
Mike

You're posting in the right place IMO!
Sounds like you've got a lot of plans that are like what I have in progress with my '11 Brembo GT.
Regarding Mod I, see this thread at BMO:
http://bossmustangsonline.com/index.php?topic=2041.0
My GT is on P springs and Base Boss shocks, but I have a set of LS shocks/struts inbound. If I didn't do the installs myself, I would probably have just gone with the FR3 adjustable kit.
...I wish I could run your Mod II...I love those wheels and have Pilot Super Sports on 19x9 and 19x10 F14s. Congrats on finding a set.
For the brakes, I'm currently running HT-10s on the front and HP+ on the rear, but I'm definitely switching to something that has less rotor wear next. Probably PFC 01/97.
And *I* would *never* tell you that you should have gotten a Boss...I'll only suggest that you add one to the GT
While I do track my Boss...it's mostly stock, and the GT is my track car.

.....try to find this mod on a local Mustang and see how it feels before u spend $ I did the lower springs, Vorshlag cc plates, Kenny Brown reloc & LCA. I've been hearing a from local Mustang experts, "watts link" rear end is the mod to do...

...MANY Boss guys are running 18 rims so they have MANY more track tire choices and cheaper prices. I have the Mich SS on my 12 Boss and I do track the car. I was at the track this past Sat, (cold temps) and the car slid a little. I really like the Mich SS as a great all around tire, but expensive. There are many better track only tires on market IF that's want u want.
Mod III: Just a set Hawk HP+ or HPS pads.
...my friend had bad experience with HP pads on the Boss. I'm running a Carbotech XP2 front pad, OEM rear pad. I have about 6 track days on the XP2 and still alot of pad left.

Guys - thank you so much for the responses.
Grant, thank you for the link to that thread - FANTASTIC info there!!
JPC - I'm located just outside San Francisco in the East Bay - where are you? I've also been thinking about 18's as you're definitely correct, loads more tire choices. The Parnelli rims were just too good to pass up though (at least they should be) - I find out soon. If for some reason they fall through I'll consider the 18's.
I've actually got some pretty good connections at Hotchkis and Kenny Brown, however there's a part of me that wants to keep this car all Ford as I sometimes get leery about the aftermarket. I also need it to remain 100% streetable.
I run a decent amount of open road events like One Lap of American, a few cross country rallies, planning on Silver State this year - so I need to find that perfect combination. I think I'm getting close though.

On our 13 Boss we have Koni Yellow adjustables, Hotchkis sport springs, Ground control CC plates, Hotchkis Lower control arms and Hotchkis sways. Goodridge stainless lines, FRPP brake duct kit, hawk pads and few other performance items. The suspensions handles perfectly, its not raw.... its balanced. Hotchkis springs are rated at around 185 which isn't all that stiff however setting the konis on a stiffer setting to your liking you'll be happy. I chose the ground controll cc plates because of the adjustability. -+3 degrees of adjustability, billet aluminum plates and comes with its own spring isolator. Great kit! Let us know if we can ever help you out!

I would say +1 for the Hawk HPS's. I have them on my Boss and DD it but also have gone to a few track days and they are significantly better then the OEM pads. They seem to bite a lot harder once warmed up which I liked because it gives you a chance to learn the track and then push harder and still have great bite.
