For the price of retrofitting those dinky vents, you could probably get a Tiger hood installed and painted.

I read that the Tiger decreases lift but doesn't necessarily help with cooling. Might be why Ford located the heat extractors at the back of the hood instead of the front.

I'm no engineer (oh wait I am, just not that kind) but seems to me having them in the back makes a whole lot more sense for cooling purposes.

I love the 2013 Boss, I like how the roof is body color now and IMO the 2012 Boss 302 Laguna Seca color combos were a bit too loud for me.

Definately like the changes to the '13 Boss LS..would like to see the regular Boss 302 upgrades and pricing for these models.

I don't think the 2013 Boss is receiving any performance upgrades besides the new hood that vents out hot air.

Also the GT500 front end which has wider openings and should flow more air, along with the removeable fog light covers.

I have wanted to do this for a while. Custom aluminum louvers/vents can be made by a few companys out there. The only problem is when you remove the sound deadener liner from under the hood of a 2012 Boss, you will see lots of bracing. There are a few open areas on each side of the hood to put louvers, but not sure if they would be enough to amount to anything. Not sure about cutting into the bracing either. Going to be looking into this more next week when a friend who build hot rods and does a lot of metal work is stopping over. I do like the looks of the louvers/vents on the 2013 Boss hood. And I really like the Tiger Racing hood too, but I am cheap and would rather spend money on other go fast stuff!

What was said about the Tiger hood was the added down force was a bigger deal and cut a couple seconds from a lap time. It also helped cooling but the lap times was the bigger deal.

I'd prefer something more OEM looking than the 302S hood.

Is the 2013 GT/Boss grill area and surround the same pieces as the GT500 or are they unique?

the 2013 does not WOW me. When I look at it, the first thing I see is the nose and it say GT500 to me not BOSS.

I do like the smaller splitter on the front and the reflective stripes.
As for the tail lights.....I'm not sure any more.
The color matching roof takes away from the BOSS being unique.
I like my 2012 Boss better that the 2013 and glad I made the purchase.

From what I can tell last night at the Mustang Reveal, the surround looks the same, but I couldn't really tell if they were different parts. The GT500 has no grill. Dave Pericak said they needed to keep it open to meet cooling requirements for that 650HP engine. I was able to put my hand through the opening...

I'll try to get a better look at the LA Auto Show. I'll be going next week (Friday after Thanksgiving).

I think the look of the Boss and GT 500 look killer.

You know, with the hoopla around the crazy new Shelby, maybe this forum will be busy enough that the Shelby guys will have somewhere to hang out!

Where does the GT500 go from here? What does Ford have in store for the next gen 2015 model? I think with a 5.8 making 650HP I'm starting to think Ford needs to build a new Ford GT supercar!

Not trying to stir the pot here but it seems most 09-12 owners don't like the new updates. This reminds me of the 05-09 guys not liking the 10-12...

I certainly like the updates for the 2013 Boss 302. However, I think the 2012 Boss 302 will appeal more to the Boss purists. The 2012 has more of bare essential theme to it. If I were to buy a Boss 302, I would have a hard time trying to decide which year to buy. Both year models have good traits.

I agree I think ford needs to make a special edition like the original Cobra Rs of the 90s and 2000. Make a GT500 with no options built just for the track... Why hasn't Ford made one of these since the 2000 Cobra R?
