With the number of '12 Boss' and GT500's still in dealer showrooms, I'd bet there will be even more this time next year.

The economy is still poor and gas keeps going up, even in the winter.

The pony car is no longer "everyman's" car. It's moving into Corvette territory.

To be fair, we are talking about the Boss 302 and GT500 here. Special editions always command premiums. The base GT, from a strict HP and performance standpoint, is still one hell of a deal.

He was an uninformed idiot.

There is usually a ~3% price increase each model year if there aren't any improvements. VERY reasonable.

Is the boss getting heated mirrors and the puddle light?
Regarding things like "new hood, grill, etc", the incremental should not be affected year over year on a cost basis. Pretty sure its not coming with two hoods.

But the cost over 2012 is a different part than the previous hood........you must remember if one guy in engineering has to lift a pencil to change something from the previous year, its extra......not including markup because of material costs more as theyears click by.
I work in engineering at Newport News Shipbuilding for aircraft carriers, and with goverment budgets tight as we start the next carrier we can't so much change the color of an item because it starts the cost snowball. Most company use SAP for configuration managing parts........you wouldnt believe how cost just rolls with change.
As far as the mirrors and puddlelights go http://bossmustangsonline.com/boss-3...il5frq5kdqqmi2

I work an an engineering, I understand the concept. But I also understand business enough to know that the previous model year had to be engineered as well, so the cost was factored into that model. In other words, engineering a part from one model year to the next does not mean it inherently has to cost more, both years have that cost. We could get into a discussion over amortizing the costs over unchanged years and such, but it doesn't change my point.

There has been inflation and enhancements to the 2013, that is where the cost increase comes from, not necessarily from redesigning a hood or fender. Thanks for the link.

if you change 1 **** thing from the previous design cost is there and it gets passed on to the consumer...........this is in addition to cost increase from year to year /

Not necessarily true. Fixed costs vs. variable costs, all depends on engineering demand load. Spread that out over the life of a car program and it means it doesn't necessarily cost anymore to have something engineered then it would have those resources do nothing. Many products in the market are re-engineered each year and sold as the same cost as the previous year for this exact reason.

Your a Moron.........Period!..........do you know the term roll over?.........It means NO CHANGE.........that menas material PIR 's are rolled ......no QA needed........vendor orders dont change...........2013 is ENTIRELY different in the hood grill (not to mention brackets, wiring length etc) . what do you do deliver mail in an engineering department? design, part numbers, dies, material, assembly, repair manuals, parts manuals........ DIFFERENT = COST and Ford is not taking that on their own wallet.

I still believe you are misrepresenting costs that are sunk as variable which to me is in-congruent with accounting practice. The costs you are listing are not inherently more than the previous model year, therefore not necessarily the driver of increased cost. Again, the enhancements (Sync vs No Sync, HID vs Halogen, etc) and inflation are the primary drivers of the cost increase, not a redesigned hood etc.

Regardless, I'm sure no one else on here cares to read us go back and forth and I certainly don't appreciate your attitude of calling me a moron and am going to stop responding as its clear a civil discussion is beyond you. Goodnight.

For Ford or everyone? Subaru kept the WRX pricing the same for like 4 years, and that was with lighter wheels, new turbo and radio in just a single year. I know 'cause I got burned on an '08 and then Subaru released a much better '09 for the same amount and it still burns. But I concur, prices tend to go up.

I understand what you're saying. I'm simply saying if people treated each other on the net like they did in person you would be more careful of what came out of your mouth. I just find it childish to resort to name calling to try and win your point in an argument.
