13 Boss Price Increase

2012 Boss with Recaro MSRP $43,100
2013 Boss with Recaro MSRP $44,990

2012 Boss LS MSRP $48,100
2013 Boss LS MSRP $49,990

$1890 for HID, Sync, and track apps

Seems a little pricey to me for those three things. That's maybe $1k of gear at most.

Agreed on pricey. $6k more and you can have a ZL1 over a Boss, hmm...
Ford is like the government, releasing pricing on Friday so people don't notices as much.

For me I'd buy the ZL1 over the LS Boss but buy the regular Boss over both. I'm kind of scared about 2013 GT500 pricing...

My mind is similar, regular Boss is best value of the 3 options.

Well... that's less of a bargain than last year.

Oh well. In for a penny in for a pound.

If someone gave you $55k to spend on a car and you decided to buy a Pony Car. I'd take the Regular Boss and the $10k in cash hands down.

I don't think the $2,000 increase is a surprise at all. When it was first announced that the Boss was going to have HIDs and Synch, that is the number that everyone was guesstimating.

Price out a replacement set of OEM HID's. Usually really expensive although I haven't seen the ford numbers. Not a bad deal for the extra gear.

That doesn't sound right to me. The increase in LS and regular Boss should not be the same. The LS loses the fancy and pricey gauge pod, so the increase should be less than in the regular Boss. Also, the Ford guy on video said there would be no increase in price for the Laguna Seca.

I agree the LS is getting up there. I read in the new Car and Driver, March 2012, today that the GT500 will "start below $60,000, but not by much." They are thinking like $59,000, is there estimate based on conversations with Ford. Also, they claim Ford will build as many GT500s as they can sell.

To be fair, it also has removable lamp "covers" in the front grill and hood vents as well.

:gulp:

I'm really looking forward to the next gen Mustang. Mustang has a proud history, but apart of that was affordability, I hope Ford can take the next Mustang back to that vision a bit more in the next car by focusing on more handling based performance. I'm thinking something along the lines of the new BRZ or FRS with a bigger motor. You know, like a Boss but modern architecture.

idk, the mustang has never been a small car, i'm all for lighter and better handling. i don't think we need IRS or a car the size of a WRX though. i like that the mustang is bigger so you can actually fit a wife and a couple kids in it for a cruise.

Base GT500 will probably retail around the ZL1's sticker price which would be folly in Ford's case IMO. I just read the C&D article and they are conjecturing that the base GT500 like the vert will have a 155 mph speed limiter and in order to unlock the ultimate capability of the car, you'll have to step up to the performance pack with all the coolers.

A moot point for most, but if thats true it lowers the value proposition on the GT500 by a fair amount.

Hopefully Ford has the sense to bring the base car in under the ZL1's asking price (especially if C&D is right about the limiter) and then let the options bring the price up to the ZL1's asking price or a bit more. A 65k MSRP loaded GT500 is a nail in the coffin for the car no matter that it might be an 11 second quarter horse that can punch a 200+ mph hole in the air.

Hate to break it to you, but there is significantly more room in my WRX then there is in a Mustang, especially in the back seat, which is exactly why I got the WRX over the 'stang. The Mustang's size is larger, but that does not translate into interior space, its for the long hood and motor.

Looked it up: Passenger Volume Mustang: 83 ft3 (2 door) WRX:94 ft3 (4 door) Luggage Volume Mustang: 13 ft3 (2 door) WRX: 19 ft3 (4 door)

There is no way the GT500 will come out below the ZL1 pricing. The marketing department alone won't allow it, Ford is all "Command a premium" these days. If they were going to win on price, we wouldn't have seen the '13 LS within spitting distance of price of the ZL1.

I'm still happy to get Sync and HIDs. I never assumed they'd be free, and given the option I'd have paid for them in '12.

Still, $2000 is not a small number.
