13 1LE Camaro Faster than a Boss 302 LS?

The same could be said about Boss 302 owners...many will never use these cars for their intended purpose. Personally, I welcome the Bow Tie vs. Blue oval one up-ing each other. It just means american muscle gets better and better. Before you know it BMW and the likes will be bench marking Mustangs and Camaros.

the 1LE may seem like a beast, sure for one flying lap. but lap after lap with that huge 3800lb weight penalty and gianormously expensive 20" wheels etc that thing will eat consumables like pop corn (pads, tires) and likely overwork them in short order in various track sessions. very expensive consumables too.
I think very few true track folks will end up with the 1LE for real track day duty. Its an interesting study on paper though...

Makes sense, I would imagine GM will slap a high MSRP on that car. But I like the direction GM took, even if they were aiming at the Laguna. I'm still never going to like the looks or interior of the Camaro.

The Z/28 will be more expensive than the ZL1, and more exclusive. I'm guessing easily a $60k starting price.
On the other hand, now that were seeing carbon brakes trickle down to the pony cars, we might see them on other vehicles down the road.

This thread is so amusing. To see all the excuses about why the Boss is still better. Geez guys, nobody races a bone stock car. If you like the Camaro, buy it. If you like the Boss, buy it. Both are comparable choices and can both be built to what you want. Quit acting like someone challenged your manhood.

I guess but these are stock car tests were talking about. I've had mustangs and camaros but none of them were stock for long. They are both great cars, make the one you like even better. Being a fan of pony cars in general, the only things that consider are max hp potential and looks. I don't care what badge is on it.

I brought the thread back, because I found the recent review on Winding Road. I find it to be such an interesting conversation, because clearly the 1LE has turned faster times on certain tracks, yet so many publications claim it "is not as good as the boss 302." I'd like to drive one someday, to see what is affecting the preference for one or the other.

Here's what he has to say about the '13 GT500's "problems" and a video of him at Homestead-Miami with NASA last month.......
D Van Collier - Heat Soak and Brake Fade are not true regardless of what the magazine says. I have driven both cars and taken multiple ZL1 owners for rides on track. The one constant from the ZL1 owners over the headsets, "there ain't nothing wrong with these brakes"
