That is interesting, especially since that would be a heavier transmission, not what you would want if Ford was trying to shed weight from the vehicle for the next generation.

I can't speak for everyone but in my case, this is true. I had trouble shifting my car at first and was worried it was the tyranny based on posts here. I've driven manual cars exclusively for the past 23 years, so it couldn't be me. After a month I learned the car and love the tranny. I'm probably the only person that likes the stock shifter. I just changed the bracket and it is magic.

Maybe there is hope after all. Between the Mt82 and the dual clutch transmission in the Fiesta/Focus all is not quite well with Getrag. Rumor has it the dual clutch is going bye bye in the next gen Focus. I would love to see the same fate for the MT82 but its wishful thinking imo.

Hopefully Ford learned quickly with the Getrag fiasco
If I were contemplating over an available 14' or ordering a 15'
and knew the 15' would have a factory Tremec..
I'd be on the order list.

I've been driving manuals for 22 years. I'm 36 and started on a 5 speed in a field truck when I was 14. I've never had any issues until this transmission. So unless I all of a sudden forgot how to drive manuals, I'd say there's something not quite right with this trannie.
You probably wont' see too many issues with the trannie if you granny shift all the time. But for mine, it's like clockwork. I know exactly when it will act up:
First time driving the car when it's cold....first shift into 3rd....grrriiiindd. Every single time. That first cold shift does it every time into 3rd. Second shift into third....little grriind. After that when its warm. It won't grind.
Next...I won't see any issues until I drive the car hard. Once the RPM's get above 6,000 when shifting into third...I have to engage the clutch and give it about 3 seconds with the clutch in before it will allow me to shift into third. Otherwise, if I try to shift without that delay...gate looooccckkkkkked. This behavior is clockwork for my car.
