This happens all the time with the introduction of a new model. I would suggest everyone wait until you see the '15 in person. Photos have a way of distorting the image and you may be surprised by how good it does look. As for it not looking like a Mustang, I have to disagree. This is an evolution of the design, just as Porsche and Mercedes have done over the years. Give the design a chance before you condemn it.

It's fine....I don't really care....I have zero interest in buying one. Ford already built I always wanted, so I thank them for that.
It will be interesting to see how this car is received by the general public...will they like it? Will they want it?
The car is going to be expensive....how many people are willing to pay that kind of money for a TWO door car?

Is Ford hoping to see much higher sales then they currently have with Mustang? And do they think an expensively featured SPORTS car is what people want to buy?
Time will tell.
Really? I think it Is PURE MUSTANG! Front to Back.

As for the Front End, I just don't understand these people who keep saying the front end Doesn't Look Anything Like a Mustang...
Because All of These Cars Came BEFORE The Fusion, and The Evos Concept which was Its self Inspired by the Mustang and in turn inspired both the 2015 Mustang and the 2014 Fusion. All I See is MUSTANG.

Please share the picture around.
Looks like a Mustang to me, more than Fox bodies for sure. I love the fact that Ford riffed on the Mustang front end, first shown on the Evos for the family front end. That fact that the Focus, as a volume leader first debuted what is obviously a Mustang nose doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Here is the 2014 vs the 2015:
I think mostly its the wraparound headlights that smear into the fender like about every other car today, secondly i think its the lack of a projection at the bumper line...looks bumperless like about every other car today

Every day I like the 2015 more and more. I think the current model was perfected in the last year or two (whenever they made the last minor tweaks) and its a good looking car, but it still has features that bug me (sits too high, not wide enough, antenna on trunk, faux gas cap on back, etc). I feel like Ford FINALLY made a complete looking Mustang with no tacked on or goofy looking parts.
I was a critic, skeptic of this car at first, but after clicking on that link and looking at all the comparison pics, I'm just about completely swayed. Unless this thing just photographs well, I don't know how it couldn't be a winner. One of my only criticisms is the black back end. Hate it, it needs to be the same color as the rest of the car. The other is that the fog light area is needlessly large and takes away from the front end. Why have these giant black cutouts for those tiny fog lights? Overall though, they did a great job. Very Aston-Mustangish, which isn't a bad thing.

I agree the 10/11/12 had a very cool looking nose, personally think the 13-14 werent as attractive, but the 13 taillights were a huge improvement over 10-12 in my opinion... I dont think the 15 is 'terrible' but to me it just looks a bit too typical of some non-mustangs. I loved the 69 body most of all, but will be the first to admit my beloved 69 was not much of a car...a falcon that gained half a ton... I liked the 05 almost as much as the 69, pretty much liked the 10-12 except for the rearend, prettymuch liked the 13-14 except a little overdone on the nose, but to me the 15 is just too modern- wish ford would have made the aussie falcon into this world model and kept a more unmistakably unique frontend on the mustang. The backend slopes too much for me, and the tapered rear window with radiused bottom corners just dont look right straight on to me, not at all like any other fastback looked, and at a glance sure looks like it coulda been squared off within the sheetmetal lines. The sloping tail looks better than the 10-12 to me, but neither seemed to be a well accepted update.

Really hope it does well, numbers in two years will tell the tale, but i think in the US market, its too pricey, and too typical looking. I just hope and pray it dont go GTO on ford. At least its not a four door yet.

Just seems to me the 2005 was a frenzy of positive comments, where the 15 landed with a relative thud.

I kinda think, right or wrong, that 'retro' term was overused and killed the mustang. To me classic lines will NEVER go out of style, 56 F100 pickups, 55-57 tbirds and belairs 69 cougars, chargers- heck just about anything built in 69, those were the best looking cars of the day, still highly desirable today. The whole 'retro' term i found offensive, yet it was said so often ford saw it as a derogatory thing, when they should have stressed 'classic' is not necessarily retro. Symphonies still play music written hundreds of years ago, trans siberian orchestra can play them with electric guitars, yet folks still recognize the piece- and they can use a orchestra to play classic rock... Classic/favorites/pinnacle years will always be attractive- just wish they would have built more on classic lines proudly than trying to run-away from 'retro' because they now see the 05 'retro' as offensive or outdated. They seem to forget it was one of the most admired new models in decades, and restarted the whole ponycar thing again. It was a evolution of classic lines, not a retro /midlife crisis/ clamoring or the past/etc type of thing... It was immensely more like the classic lines than any model since 70, and was pretty universally liked. Then suddenly 'retro' made them seem to think it was a mistake. Hope it works out, but... Thud.

That post with the photos summed it up for me. Remember back in mid 2000's when the Dodge had their entire line up with the same grills? It reminded me of those old photos where families dressed up in corny Christmas sweaters and everyone laughs at it now. It seems Ford is headed the same way - did we not learn our lesson?

Remember when the Mustang looked like a Pinto? Well now we're sharing Mustang ques with a Focus and a Fusion. Those are not muscle cars.

Think the new Corvette shares any visual ques with the Chevy Cruze? Then why make a Mustang look like a budget car?

Anyhow - this thread was about the front grill - and that's my thought on it. That's the one thing that bugs me the most about the new car (the grill shape)... which must mean I don't hate it... I think... not sure yet. Need to see one.

Did you see the pictures I posted? The mustang that predates the Fusion has a very similar grille opening to the 2015. The Fusion copied the Mustang not other way around.

Also The Fusion is a really nice looking car. Very sporty and fresh looking. Then you see it next to the 2015 Mustang and it immediately looks like the conservative family sedan that it is (Fusion).

I personally don't have too much of problem with the Fusion front end. My issues are with the slanted rear with odd tail lights. Maybe it will grow on me, but based on pictures I'm glad I got a '14 GT this year.

But another thought, has anyone seen or done a rendering of the '15 front with Grill mounted fog lights?? I think that would make it look a bit more aggressive.

This is 100% my question as well. I asked this in the Photoshop thread before it mysteriously disappeared. (What happened there?) Someone was kind enough to post a photo from a Ford presentation illustrating what it might look like.

just goes to show how everyone will have some element they want to look different. I think its' great that we all like and appreciate different aspects and care so much about the Mustang. Personally I couldn't be happier they ditched the faux gas cap on the rear and the large fog lights in the grille between the headlights, I tired of those very quickly and feel elminating them makes for a cleaner more modern look. But I get how some want more of that. Also the rear end and tri bar taillights are my favorite part of this new Mustang.

I haven't forgotten. I never liked those either. The 2005 is what brought me back to Mustang ownership.
