I like the look on my Bullitt, but that baby only sees 2000-3000 miles a year. My daily driver '10 sees 17,000 a year, so I need to have some tread for awhile!

Anyone watch American idol? Was watching the finale with my gf and the last two contestants were given 2015 5.0 mustangs on the show. How do they get mustangs and we don't get any specs yet?

It seems logical they were given "the promise" of the cars and not the actual cars. They don't know the specs either

 

True, the cars were there on the show and the contestants got inside the cars after Ryan Seacrest said "here's your brand new mustangs". May not have been the actual cars they will be given but they made it seem like they were giving them two 15 5.0s. Wouldn't make sense to give them 5.0s but then why show the 5.0s. Advertising I guess.

 

My guess is that they will be given a credit to be used toward a Mustang that they can spec and order to their own liking. 2 of the people on the Amazing race won a Mustang each a couple weeks ago, and that show would have been filmed LONG ago. Just because you "won" it today, doesn't mean you are driving it home tonight.

It's gonna be fat? No doubt IMO. Hopefully the improvements to the 5.0 make up for it, but if they had made any significant improvements, I think they'd have boasted about it.

I don't think it's going to be under 3800 lbs.

Is the power rating still guessed as 420hp/390tq?

 

The specs (such as they are now) read "more than 420hp" for the V8. "More than" can be interpreted as "we haven't decided on the final tune". Since parts were borrowed from the 302, the 2015 model could produce as much as 444hp, but probably not. I expect a modest boost, similar to the boost Ford allowed on the 4.6 (300 to 315) when they changed bodystyle 2009-2010. Perhaps 430--435hp?

Ford is releasing a lot of new 2015 models this year. Apparently people don't care about the power numbers because they've already placed orders without even seeing it in person or driving it yet.

Be patient and don't buy the next two years, wait. Just wait.

 

Right, that or might end up in a 14. I'm not savy with pre production, release dates, ordering, and all that other good stuff that comes with a new car like this. Could someone please explain how it typically works? Since people have already ordered, obviously there is enough information released to satisfy people, but for some others, when do manufactures typically release the juicy information like hp/tq, weight, road numbers corresponding to the release/ordering date?
