Solid Axle vs. IRS
If they design the chassis to accommodate both the SRA on the V6 and IRS on the GT, I'll bet you the IRS on the GT will be compromised. Isn't that what happened with the IRS Cobra?

Y'know if Ford could give us an awesome plug in rear suspension that worked incredibly well for both an SRA and an IRS, I'd go with an SRA mainly for the reliability and ease of maintence.
I really do like the current mac strut/sra layout because its drive off the end of a cliff and keep on truck'n (no pun intended) tough.
Frankly I'm not overly fond of the fact that I'll have to add an alignment to my maintence schedule if I purchase a future Mustang. Then again maybe I'll just get one and drive it on nice days after the road has been freshly paved
Now I'm not denying there are some positive benefits to having an IRS (mainly better packaging and improved ride with handling that is more confidence inspiring) but its just not enough of improvement to really sway my cheap **** away from an SRA.

So last year the Boss 302 and 302LS came out. Dominated some of the factory road course scenes. People traded in their Porsches and BMWs to get one of these "SRA" equipped "factory race ready" cars. Yes Ford did that with a SRA. But some of you whine that you need an IRS.
So the big question is...................
Wait for it...................
WHY DOES THE NEW MUSTANG NEED AN IRS?

I am still impressed with the stock 11's.
Don't forget, the new chassis will be shared with at least one new Lincoln (and who knows, maybe other spin offs)........and an SRA Lincoln 'aint gonna cut it.
At the end of the day, yes, Ford has proved they can make an SRA handle as good, if not better than its IRS equipped rivals......but then, just as an example, a crank handle will wind a window up just as well as an electric motor.....
These "advances" are led by market forces. If Ford really do want a slice of the premium coupe market, than an IRS is where its at.
Me? I don't care what's holding up the rear end.....so long as it's reliable, can take the power, ride smoothly and still handle. If that means an IRS, then I'm cool with that.

I would really like to see that matchup. Stock cobra is only 390hp so the boss has it on the top end then factor in heat soak
. Somebody hook that race up.
