S550 SVT Mustang caught on video 9/17/13
Yeah I'm already thinking long tubes, axle backs, new wheels, even though I haven't seen them yet, an MGW shifter, oh and a supercharger.
Because honestly don't all Mustangs need these things from a base model to a Shelby.

so excuse my (and probably others) lack of technical knowledge, how would "internal splines" indicate AWD what would be the use of "internal splines" if not AWD?
I know its sacrilege to purists but an AWD option on mustang would immediately boot the 435 and S5 off my shopping list next fall.

The new mustang will have the V6 and ecoboost 4cyl to match the Camaro LS, The Coyote powered GT vs the SS The GT 350 with the high revving NA V-8 (track car) no more boss vs Z-28. If that holds true the mustang has nothing to compare to the ZL1. That would be a mistake since the GT 500 sold. Better than the Boss 302s. Either way there is a gap in the future mustang lime up. If there will be no simultaneous GT 350 and GT 500 how do you think ford will counter both the Z-28 and the ZL1? Bringing back a Boss or
Mach 1 will not counter the ZL1. There is a gap in the line up and that is what I am asking about.
I too think there could be a gap in the line up, at least at launch. And while SVT may not do two radical Mustangs, Ford does. Sure the GT500 outsold the Boss 302. But better brand recognition with the casual enthusiast and top dog bragging rights help. Fact is though, the Boss was the most critically acclaimed Mustang ever and had the car offered the level of performance it did in a more contemporary looking package than the heavily retro striped oddly coloured car it was you would have seen then fly off the lots. Me, I'm glad I got a Boss 302, but I'm 49 and have wanted a Blue '69 Boss 302 since I was a kid. Fact is Ford could also sell me a brand new Mercury Cougar Eliminator. But the could have sold me the sane car with subtle 302 Badging in the manner of the original 429 based on all the great press I was reading. So I suspect Ford is smart enough to tailor its future Mustangs to 5 crowds. Those that simply want to get into the Mustang nameplate. Those that want a domestic that can go toe to toe with small displacement imports as a fun to drive sporty car. Those that want the top dog Mustang for street or Strip. The track rats that Ford has pulled from other brands, both Foreign and Domestic with a competitive and well priced option (Me!) and finally the new crowd the '15 can pull, those that just want a **** good car. I was promised an answer to the Z/28 by no less than Dave Pericak and so I won't buy a Camaro, or return to BMW but instead wait on the GT350 or whatever it's called. This will then be my second consecutive Ford purchase since the 80's.
I'd really like to see Ford go with an intuitive line up; V6 -> GT --> GT350 ---> GT500
The GT500 doesn't necessarily need to be a GT350 on steroids but it would be nice to have a spiritual successor to the Boss in the GT350 and retain the Muscle car attitude of the GT500.

I can live without the 5.8 engine and be happy with the 500+ hp engine in the proposed GT 350 but a car designed as a track usually is stripped down to save even more weight. No AC or cutting out other goodies to save weight is not an option for me. I don't think as many people will buy track cars. No GT 500 or an equivalent regardless of what engine is in it means that I would have to go with a Saleen or Roush offering. I don't understand why SVT would focus on a smaller market track car offering and totally drop a bigger segment customer base. It doesn't make sense for their business.
The percentage of people that track their car is very small.
I'd expect to see what we have now.
The standard SVT and a performance package with all the goodies for those actually serious about taking it to the track. No different than it is now.

I just hope the SVT team relocates the battery to the trunk. I am surprised the current GT500 has the battery in the engine compartment. The GT500 would get better traction with the battery in the trunk. I would certainly have paid Ford more for the track pack option if the battery would have been placed in the trunk. Any weight taken off the front would help handling. No wonder some magazine test found the ZL1 could out handle the GT500. Even the Dodge Magnum station wagon had the battery in the trunk.

Is there a practical application to moving the battery to the trunk? If not, then we're not going to see it. People move the battery to the trunk for one reason: weight distribution. The number of people who will "need" it in the trunk are about as large a percentage as the people who will seriously track their car. It also takes up room in the trunk.
If anything mount the battery under the center console and have a two-prong outlet plug in the console compartment as well as usb connectivity. Charge anything, anywhere. Cept itll get super warm between the seats. The engine bay is the best spot for cars meant to be dailt driven.
People will complain about the battery in the trunk because it takes up storage space. The best we can hope for is two smaller batteries mounted in parallel locations in the engine bay in order to distribute the weight better. Stymmetry is key

Or you balance it out as best you can with other equipment like brake booster, master cylinder, a/c equipment and so on.
