Prop rod??

There are a lot of good aftermarket hood struts, and we all have our preferences, but I have always liked the ones from Redline Tuning.

http://www.redlinetuning.com/products_quicklift.html

I contacted them and was told that the 2015 kits should be ready in two months.

Just wanted to pass on the info!

Thanks! Its a little disappointing that they don't come on the car from the factory. of course that would add more weight I guess. Ha

I thought I read somewhere that the prop rods were just a quick fix for the preproduction cars and struts were spotted on some of the production cars on the line? Maybe I dreamed this. But add this to the must have mods the wife said I cannot do until the car is paid off. Like I'm going to wait 5 years for this one...

I prefer the prop rod. It's cheap and it's light. Those who want struts can add them later.

I don't get the hate for prop rods. They never, ever need to be serviced.

It's not fun when struts go bad every two years, or can't hold the hood up when it's -40F outside.

Well, I can't speak about -40F, but I've had these on my 89 LX 5.0 for 8 years and no problems.

I replaced my plenum cover yesterday, and I'll be installing an Airraid intake tube when it arrives. Having a prop rod instead of my Redline struts would have been a PITA to work around.

The hood struts were the first mod I did when I got my '03...then the wheels, and tires, the suspension, the brakes, supercharger...it goes on and on...

Thought about hood struts, till I saw a hood blow back on a guys windshield @ a car show.
Granted it was really windy that day, but my prop rod never had an issue.
I see hoods lowered on windy days, and without looking, know they have hood struts.

I had hood struts on my 08 and I'm planning on getting the redline ones on my 14 when I get a chance.

That's weird. At a recent cruise in we had the prop rods come loose and hoods slam on 2 different cars. No issues with the hood strut cars.

Redline Tuning hood struts were the first mod on my '14 GT. Had them on my last several Mustangs, as well. Must haves!

That is strange. If they were installed properly and had the safety pins in place (these prevent the ball from popping out of the socket once they are snapped in place), I can't see how this happened.

Each bracket uses existing bolts, or 2-3 rivets... so I'm thinking the safety pins were missing. With out the safety pins, this is VERY possible.
