Question Parts Supplier leaking 2015 information... ?

May or may not be legit...

Guys, I can't get into specifics but I know that everyone will be pleasantly surprised by the looks of the next Mustang. How do I know? I'm a component supplier on the current and 2015 model and let me tell you the car will definitely have a contemporary, modern look to it-much more than the 2005-2013 models have now. There will be (limited) retro cues--nothing too tacky, just enough to tell the average dude that it is indeed a Mustang. The car is going slightly upmarket in style and quality to compete with BMW/Audi/Nissan. Don't worry though, the boys in Dearborn have not taken their eye off the ball (read Camaro & Challenger). Look out Chevy and Dodge, come 2015, the King will return....
@JetWolf what I can tell you is the MY2015 model will have both an edgy and curvy look to it--think a modern day 99-04 with a little Aston Martin DBS and Nissan 370Z in the rear three quarter view. Both are muscular, curvy and edgy. Fit and finish will be close to or on par with the Audi S5. The roof line will be lower to accommodate a much sleeker rake to the windshield. The rear fenders are flared to give that wide stance and "don't f$&k with me" look from the rear. The rear taillight treatment will look similar to the 99-04 in terms of edginess. The halo look may return but depends on customer feedback--they may go with LEDS instead. Don't forget, Ford plans to export this model to both Europe and China--it will be a global vehicle. This means an independent rear suspension with world class handling and performance.

That sounds very promising! But I won't believe it until I see pictures. Is this even possible, I thought they were still trying to "lock down" the styling?

Lets face it! Ford will never be able to make 100 % of mustang enthusiasts like new 2015 stang. There will always be people out there who wont like what was done with the next generation. That's apart of life. I say buy now if you like the current stang.

People can spend there whole life chasing for the end of the Mustang rainbow. If you wait till 2037 maybe the Shelby will have 1000 hp. Not the small 650 hp it will have for 2013. Because that's not bad enough. Lol. Just joking! I could of waited for the next generation stang but why if one can afford it now and want one. I bought myself a 2011 back in 2010 because I love the 2011 stang. Im sure the 2015 will be faster but for me, who cares. Its about enjoying what you got. If one wants a next generation stang then one can always sell there older one in. But for now im gonna enjoy my 2011 for a good 5 years or more.

As he was talking rear lights, I assume he means the rings (halos) around the new tail lights

There will be (limited) retro cues--nothing too tacky, just enough to tell the average dude that it is indeed a Mustang.
Analysis: this person finds retro cues "tacky"

Don't worry though, the boys in Dearborn have not taken their eye off the ball (read Camaro & Challenger). Look out Chevy and Dodge, come 2015, the King will return....
Anaylsis: this person feels the Camaro and Challenger are superior to the current Mustang and a return to a "non retro" design will make the Mustang "king" again.
The roof line will be lower to accommodate a much sleeker rake to the windshield.
Analysis: the poster likes the low roofline of the current Camaro.
think a modern day 99-04
The rear taillight treatment will look similar to the 99-04 in terms of edginess
Anaylsis: this person is a big fan of the new edge cars and really wants that style to return.

Summary:
The person posting these rumors doesn't like the style of the s197s and doesn't like retro cues; likes the New Edges and Camaro and wants those influences in the 2015.

I agree with 2011 Kona Blue. I am not waiting for the 2015 Mustang. I intend on purchasing a 2013 GT500. I will keep tuned in to see what the 2015 Mustang is like. If I dont like the 2015 Mustang, I will trade in the 2013 GT500 for a 2014 GT500 providing it has the same performance or better than that of the 2013 GT500.

You go snake. Enjoy what you got and can afford. Buy the 13 Cobra. If you love the 2015 and can't live life without it, then sell the 13 and get the 2015. If you hate the 2015 next generation stang then keep your 13 or sell it and buy a 14 if you can afford it andthe if it makes you happy.

Im more of a guy who is thrilled with my 2011 stang and will keep that for the next decade or so before I go with my next stang. We tend to keep cars until they die and not worth fixing anymore. We only put about 7,000 miles a year so it should last me a long time. By the time im looking for another stang the six generation will be out. Lol

I agree, I think the direction that Ford will take with the new stang will be truly awesome as the ones in the past. Im sure it will look completely different than the past generations but you have to move forward in the design of the modern pony car. Like the world, cars evolve and transform into a new breed. A new spieces of pony .

I love the 05-08 look but I think it's time ford turns the mustang into a world competitor in a class above what it is in now as it already has beat out BMW. It needs to be wider in the back with 650hp coming it needs 335s in the back like the Porsche

I hear what your saying but respectfully I must disagree with the mustang being taken to a Porsche class of automobile. That's not what a pony car was and is. The Mustang represents the all american affordable sports car. Joe the plumber can buy the stang. Its the blue collar sports car that the average person can own and feel younger and better about themselves. The Mustang is blue collar and American as apple pie, baseball and riding a Harley Davidson. I hope Ford keeps it that way and not make this a high end six figure salary car. That would be a complete injustice to the pony car and it's heritage.

Tru'dat, but it does seem that the Mustang is headed that way, I priced a fully loaded 2012 GT with every option you could click off on Ford's website and it came to almost 44k, thats just 2k less than I paid for my GT500 in 2009.

Granted, we've seen alot of improvements since 2010 but it seems as Ford is starting to make the pony car everybody wants not everybody is going to be able to afford it.

The problem I see is that the Mustang is no longer considered a working class or young persons performance car so Ford is chasing after middle to upper income earners and in doing so they are building in attributes those buyers are looking for (ie; BMW dynamics with AUDI build quality) in an attempt to win them over. Its admirable but that stuff does not come without cost and in a crowded segment they cannot spread these costs over alot of volume.

Now that they intend to go truly global with the Mustang, its gotta be on its A-game ( http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=585705 ) since either every rag in the US has been bought off by Ford and they brought in ringers in head to head tests with BMW or there is just alot of bias out in the rest of the world and that wont be cheap to fix.

You are right about the direction Ford seems to be going into a higher level of automobile with the stang. I can only hope they stop and go back to the basics of what a Mustang really is. I have no issue if Ford wants to produce a special addition mustang that will sell for 90,000 dollars. No problem with having 1 vehicle like that.

The standard Mustang including the 5.0 should be for the average person. That is what made the Mustang and Camaro so great. I hope Ford does not make the mustang to be an exotic car that only the wealthy can afford

Im really confused on why Ford was so hell bent on making the boss to out preform the BMW M3. The historic pony car is not a BMW and thank goodness. Let the stang be what it is. Its not a high end sports car. A Chevy caviler is not a Lexus or Caddilac. Its a caviler and nothing more. Ford, respectfully leave the stang alone as the everyday middle working class person can afford this awesome pony car. Don't get away from the reason the Mustang has been Fords best selling sports card for the past 5 decades. A pony car is a pony car and it's not a Porsche, not a BMW not a high end exotic car.

This makes absolutely NO sense. The '13 and '14 are going to be the same platform, same motor car. Why would you take a bath on the car if it gets you no discernible improvement?

It's a testament to how good an "average Joe" car maker can be. Anytime you can challenge an upmarket vehicle for a fraction of the price, you're going to drum up interest. Ford knows the M3 is the benchmark in the performance coupe segment, so to aim at it and come in at almost half the price, with "inferior" components such as a live axle, demonstrates Ford's ability to engineer and tune a platform EXTREMELY well. They could have made the Boss perform better than the Camaro and Challenger and been done, but they chose to push the envelope a bit higher and we get a better car as a result. As the Boss 302 tuning and components make their way down to the GT and V6 vehicles, more people benefit from the time and effort spent dialing in the car.

Ford engineering is top notch and kudos to them for making such an awesome vehicle as the boss. The boss is a great pony car with top notch design and handling. I say produce all of those cars you want, just don't lose sight of what the mustang really is and has been. I purchased my 2011 mustang brand new for under 23,000 dollars. That's an awesome deal for a sports car that has 305 hp, gets 30 miles per gallon highway and Ford quality. I just hope Ford continues to make this type of vehicle for the great price and not transform it to some high end vehicle that you need six figures to afford.
