I don't hear too many complaints about the new Camaro. Ford had the advantage this year in that the "all new" 2015 Mustang is still competing against Gen 5 Camaro. Next year the sales numbers will be back to normal (at least in the US). So the sooner they can get the refresh to market the better.
Hopefully it wont be as bad of a refresh as the focus, or the already spotted fusion.
The refreshed mustang need these headlights:
I still think the way Car and Driver render looked in the front was just a bit better then what the official car looks, maybe it was just the headlights tho.
This. The C&D is my favorite. I wish it came out just like that. The proportions look so much better than the actual car.
Sales generally continue to grow with a new car unless it's a turd of a car, which this version isn't, but it could have been even better.
Also increased sales relative to the prior year(s) is a bit misleading. If there's a big change in a car, mfg's. anticipate on sales to drop in the year(s) leading up to the new model, thereby lowering production which leads to better numbers on the new model over the older one.
Doesn't always work this way, but it does most of the time.
The increase also depends on what's included in those numbers, or not.
Years ago Toyo announced they beat out the Taurus and then 2 weeks later said they didn't because they included sales they shouldn't have. By then all everyone knew was the first version, the second announcement was done most likely because they had to make the correction for legal reasons, but that got very little attention.
10 spd auto would not be very entertaining with paddle shifters. That's alot of shifting.
Our '14 and now our '15 Jeep Cherokee has a 9 speed, but no paddle shifters. You shift using the auto stick, placed in Sport mode. It isn't that bad because the gears are so closely spaced. works very well while in the mountains.
I'm disappointed that there's still no news about the glass roof option coming back. That's the one area where I find the S550 less desirable than the previous generation.

Agreed. I figured a retractable pano roof would be available in 2016, a la Lincoln. Guess not

Absolutely! I love my pano roof and don't want to go back to driving in a cave, so I'll keep mine until the mustang gets one again.
I've been hanging out with a lot of S550 guys, and the 15 has really grown on me, just as I knew it would. The proportions just do not translate well into pics. In person though, especially modded, I think it is an awesome looking car!

^^^^This. Every time I see a stock S550 I throw up in my mouth a little. However modded, like the MMD car, Cervini 550, or some of the other lowered/striped and modded ones I have seen online I think WOW do want. But my S197 will have to do for now until the refresh happens.
If they bring back the Glass Roof, or Pano Retractable Roof (like every other Ford and Lincoln), I may trade up. Until then, nope. Even the GT350R is tempting me, but it's unnecessary. And I just don't want to lose my Glass Roof!

2018's when I figured they would do a mild refresh. They're trying to beat chevy with the 10 speed auto vs their 8 speed. I think 8 speed is as far as I would go.

+1 When I look at online photo's of the S550. I'm completely turned off as you mentioned. in RL, they look a lot better.

Me too. I had a lot of plans for this car. I wanted to either procharge it and or put an air ride into my S197. Being it is a DD and am dumping a boat load of mileage on it. I might just enjoy driving it and just end up keeping it as is as my beater and when I'm ready to buy a new toy, then I'll end up getting something new.
Hopefully, in a few years time, ford would have made some significant improvements to the S550 to the point where its truly eye-candy to me like how the S197 still is to me.
Otherwise, I'm going to exercise my other options.
I really don't see the need for any more than 6-7 gears ... 5 acceleration gears and 1-2 overdrive/cruising gears.
With the proper programming that works great.
Any more than that is pure "mine's bigger than yours" B.S. marketing

This. There actually is a science to it. Between 5 and 8 speeds each gear provides ~3% fuel economy gains IIRC. As you get to 10 or more I'm sure the gains drop, but 3 extra gears for ~6% increase in economy is still enticing to OEMs.
