No thanks. Added weight and complexity, plus I prefer the driving characteristics of RWD

That would be more suitable for a Fiesta RS/Focus RS (rally homologation) model.

Agreed, AWD would better suit the character of a Fiesta/Focus RS.

Of course, should the next gen Stang retain a buggy axle, then it should go all the way: drum brakes, leaf springs, recirculating ball suspension and 80 aspect ratio bias ply tires.

I have to say you shouldn't count AWD out as a valid performance enhancer, sure you cant hoon as much but my S4 has the sport diff and it feels real close to full on RWD when pushed plus you get the grip and traction of AWD. imagine all the camaros that would be dusted off the line by an AWD mustangs.

I still wouldnt expect it on a stang anytime, ford has AWD in their portfolio but none of the systems are performance oriented, they are all systems designed for increasing passenger car/suv traction in slippery conditions, not performance oriented systems. The cost of developing a system would be enormous with marginal benefit.

If Ford follows the product cadence it has been the past number of years (as has been reported in various places), a new Mustang showing up in calendar year 2014 will be known as a 2015 Mustang.

Since April 17 is the anniversary date, I could see 2014 Mustangs being produced starting in early 2013 until early 2014, with the 2015 arriving by that time.
Exactly. Ford badged the '04s as 40th and the 09s as 45th, so why would they suddenly change up? I think '14s will be 13s w/ 50th badging, which will be the sales driver. And if some folks dont like the styling of the next gen, those sales could be brisk.

Almost makes me want to wait until next year to buy, but then again I've been waiting all my life for a new GT, need to get the value I can from my V6 now, want the TrackApps (so don't want to go pre-13) and won't mind a car from a lean-numbers year.
