HVAC "issue"
HVAC "issue"
The little women asked me to check out her HVAC system yesterday because in the manual mode, set to floor, and temp on high, fan on high, you don't get as much air volume discharged as when it is in the automatic mode. Sure enough, as usual, she's right. I know this is a first world problem(but I'm a first world kinda guy) and I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this or, barring a trip to the stealership, if anyone had any ideas?

Ahh, shades of 2005- early 06 "small amount of airflow to floor when in Floor Mode" in which Ford's answer was "working as designed". In mid 06 Ford redesigned the plenum ducts, check the parts manual. I also believe the HVAC module was reprogrammed as I changed my 05's out with an 07 and airflow is now proper to floor.
Well, went to the stealership, guess what- "That's absolutely normal, sir!" I too believe it's a air door problem, and most likely is a module programming issue. I did find some of it has to due with the fact that a lot of the air blows on the firewall side of the throttle pedal(not touching your foot)- not doing much good there, is it? Temporarily, I might McGyver a deflector and temporarily attach it so the air will blow on her feet. Because I am a former dealership mechanic and foreman, I know better than to let those guys play around puttering with either of my vehicles. I know they mean well, but at the end of the day- it's not theirs- so why should they care enough to do it perfect?
