a tall deck coyote with the plasma transferred liners should easily achieve the same displacement of the current 5.8L, that would also bring the TIVCT and the possibility of direct injection seeing that coyote heads were built for it.

I'm not entirely opposed to going the 6.7L diesel route and seeing reversed flow cylinder heads with a valley mounted turbo, single VGT for simplicity. maybe small twins.. I don't think the "dual boost" or compound set up would be needed.

however.. seeing the mule engine placement i don't think there's room for a 4-5" downpipe at the firewall.

Based on the latest Cobra Jet drag car it seems they are already toying with the twin turbo Coyote...

I agree that this might preview the high-line engine for the next car. Of course, I wouldn't mind being wrong and seeing that 5.8 still stick around, given it's power output

There is always a possibility of a Plasma Transfered Wire Arc Coyote in the future. This process was applied to the 5.4 and Ford eventually increased the displacement to 5.8 since iron liners are not used. Depending on the thickness of the Coyote 5.0 iron liners, a PTWA Coyote could displace 5.1 to almost 5.5...

It could possibly be a Coyote 5.4, using Boss forged internals and heads. A PTWA Boss based Coyote is the next logical step for the GT500.

The GT will use the same 5.0, the GT350 can use a Boss 302R/Aluminator XS based engine and the GT500 uses a plasma bore 5.4.

5.5 is kinda catchy and could very well be adopted in ALMS/Grand Am. In FIA, the Roush-Yates powered Mustangs displace 5.3.

Ford could slightly increase the stroke to match an increased bore. Ford worked hard keeping a squared bore/stroke.... I imagine the 5.8 could have displaced more if the stroke was increased...

Anyone know the thickness of the 5.0's liners? There was a HUGE .1179 inch gain in bore from 5.4 to 5.8, using just that gives us a 5.259 (5.3). There should be some room for almost equal stroke so a 5.5 is pretty safe.

Talking

All very interesting, but I would not want less than 7.0 liters for the GT 500.

Are you deliberately trolling, or just that ignorant? What 7.0 does Ford have, and what would it be based on? How does that fit into their strategy of smaller, more fuel efficient motors to meet CAFE and avoid gas guzzler taxes?

By the smiley in the title line, it looks as if he saying this tongue-in-cheek. At least that is the way I read his comment.

You can't see those on the mobile app. He likes to make off comments.
