Yep, I suspect they have seen one of the dozens of speculative renderings floating around and assume they are legit.

Why do you assume they're boost gauges? Maybe they're just water temp and oil pressure since the cluster is covered.

One aspect I don't like is the high belt line.

Yeah . . . windows do look a little small. Can't wait to see it uncovered!

Previous shots the Dorito looked similar to current car but maybe larger. These shots make it look like non-dorito quarter windows or some sorta hybrid...

A bit perhaps. I hate the high beltlines of most of todays car, just makes them look thick, top heavy and just plain heavy -- I much prefer a lower beltline and airier greenhouse you can actually see out of. The Camaro may be the worst offender here, but this is very much a contemporary stylistic schtick. If I wanted to drive around in a gun bunker, I'd put wheels on a gun bunker and drive it around. One important measure of mine when assessing any car is: can I rest my arm on the door sill without need for subsequent orthoscopic shoulder surgery.

I forget what episode it was, but I think it was about an older (250 GT?) Ferrari where they were extolling the airy greenhouse, its resultant great visibility (oh so important on a performance car), and the critical capability to comfortably hang ones arm on the door sill, cigarette dangling in the breeze.

I agree completely. Really hoping that the new Mustang wouldn't have it so high. It's nice to have more viewing room. Also it's nice to be able to enjoy a nice drive, windows down and arm resting on the door. It also ruins the proportions, still have to reserve judgment till the car is revealed but its not something they can fix visually. So regardless of what it looks like when all the padding is removed the belt line will still be the same height.

the high beltline is what sold me on a Mustang instead of a Camaro last year. I don't like feeling so claustrophobic. The camaro did that to me.

I really hate speculating, but more and more I look at the end of it, the more it looks like they might use the round edges from the clay model.

Fun fact: the wheels on the camo car and the clay model are the same.

Could this have actually been a leak?

Also, the body crease that showed up peaking out behind the mirror in the camo mule is the same:

doubt it. stuff like wheels and even the headlights change often before release.

I remember before the Camaro dropped there were like 3-4 different headlight layouts that were spied before release.

case in point:

v.s. production.
