Foolish?

Here I sit, starting to psych myself up for the new 2015 to come out. From what little insider info we have we won't see them hit the streets until late summer/fall. I plan on garaging this car during the winter months here in Michigan.

Is it foolish of my to buy it right when it comes out and drive it for a few months then have to put it away?

Or should I wait it out until next spring. I know in the end its my decision, but was trying to get thoughts on the situation.

I wouldn't buy it until I was able to drive it. To buy it only to put it away for a few months would make me nuts.

I think that's what is getting at me right now one hand I wanna buy it asap, on the other driving it for a few short months then having to look at it in a garage for even longer will be torture.

Ideally I'd want to wait for the second MY of anything new so the bugs get worked out, but if I was in the market, I'd have a hard time waiting another year. If I really wanted the new model, I'd probably want to wait for the special editions, too, but don't know your level of interest in that or need for a new ride. Whatchu got now?

if i were in the market for '15 i would buy outright the first day... i bought my '11 on june 2010 and i was feeling like a star any where i go as no one had seen the redesigned model and that feeling was great in exchange of the higher price i had to pay as there were no discounts at that time... it took almost 1 yr for it to flood the market....

2011 GT, Though special edition would be nice .

It's totally up to you, but I do know this, you won't be getting any deals and you should expect to pay full sticker or close to it. Once the novelty wears off then you will be able to negotiate a bit.

Not foolish of you too buy it right when it comes out, the 2015 is a special new breed. The feeling of having the new model right when it comes out is great, awww the good old 05 days :-) Might be able to get more for your 2011 now compared to when the 2015 is out.

If you plan on garaging it wait till late winter to order, by then some rebates may be available.

Will be interesting to see what the rebate plan is for this car. considering that the model year changeovers will be in prime mustang buying season now (mid-late summer)

You could buy it when it comes out and take a long scenic fall road trip before winter comes. Maybe take a lap around one of the Great Lakes. You'll have those beautiful memories to keep you warm throughout the winter.

The 2014 Mustangs are really nice cars. If I was looking for a car, I would check out the 2014 Mustang. You know as well as I do that Ford will most likely soon come out with some kind of exciting special edition 2014 Mustang. Too early to buy a 2015 Mustang.

I waited till end of Feb 05 before ordering mine.
Got it 5 or 6 weeks later as the snow was gone.

Would probably do the same this time if Job1 was so close to 'winter shutdown' time.

Gave me time to get some mods for the car before I even picked it up.
Gives Ford time to work out some production kinks as well.

Yep, I like this idea. As much as it'd be cool to drive the first one on the block, I just know I want mine "just so" on day one with a few choice mods (lowering springs, exhaust and wheels).........and I'm not sure the aftermarket will be ready that quickly.

So, buying last Feb means being able to buy those mods, ensure there were no early production issues (I'm hoping Ford have this nailed now though, as they should have learned from recent mistakes)......AND you'll get it just in time for Spring

Ordered my 2011 Feb,2010! Picked it up June 2010 & paid below sticker & got a $750 rebate coupon in the mail from Ford.

No reason I won't be able to get the same or better deal for the2015MY. I have the same issue as the OP & probably will wait till Feb 2015 to order. Then I'll be able to see all the colors on the car in person by then.

For me this will make more sense.

We ordered our GT500 in June & it was delivered in Oct. Weather in Chicago in the winter is similar to MI. We drove it for a couple weeks before parking it. The difference is that there were only limited chances to get the GT500 whereas there won't be as limited numbers of Mustangs next year. If you can wait, wait. That's 4-5 months of insurance for a car you won't be driving.

AND, more importantly, the first cars will have more issues; more bugs, rattles & squeaks. I work in auto manufacturing & I will never buy a first design year car. Although there is a lot of preliminary testing, stuff still goes wrong in the first 6-12 months.
