Door/Fender Misaligned

Door/Fender Misaligned
I took delivery of my 2015 Mustang in November of 2014 and have really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, i recently opened the passenger door and it opened about 1/4 of the way and the front of the door panel hit the front fender panel and bent it in and chipped the paint off. It would not open any further due to the two panels binding. My first reaction was that my car had been hit while parked. I checked the entire car and could find no signs of damage that would have caused the misalignment of the panels. I then searched the issue on line and discovered that this is a common problem. The body shop wants $450 to fix the damage since the fender needs to be removed, repaired and painted. I feel that this was not my fault and was caused due to the very narrow gap between the two panels; poor quality control. Does anyone know if Ford is accepting responsibility for this type of shoddy work and making repairs? I haven't been to a dealer yet since it just happened and I live in a rural area about 40 miles from the dealership. It is, however, still under warranty.
