Anyone "walk","run", "jog", or "trot" they're car down the assembly line
While viewing the 2015 at Chicago Auto Show, I was informed that owner could be present at the final assembly of their car...I contacted Ford and they said that they do not do this.
I spoke with a Ford Rep (She is a assembly line supervisor) at Chicago and told me that this was possible. I live relatively close and would love to walk the car down the line.
Anyone else ever done this?

The Vette is the only one i know of you can do this. You 'pay' something like $2,000, and get to watch your Vette be made and drive it home
There are several things to consider -
1) safety in the plant...if an outside visitor were to get hurt, you might imagine how that could be problematic
2) distractions for the employees focusing on the task at hand
3) employee privacy
That all said, I'd LOVE if there was a way to accommodate this kind of option on the Mustang like is done on the Corvette.

My poor 2014 was built before I even decided to buy a Mustang. Poor thing sat on a lot for a couple of months getting leaves and debris all over it wondering its fate. It had a nice claybar treatment and wax job after I got it and looked as good as it did rolling out of the factory. It has a few battle scars now, rock chips, etc, but we have had fun getting them and we will get even more, smiling the whole time.

I went on a tour of the Rouge plant last summer. Thats where the first Mustangs were assembled and now the pickup trucks. I got to walk above the workers and watch them. I think Ford could do the same thing with the Flatrock plant
I wish they did as well. There are tours of the Flat Rock plant, but they open up on an ad-hoc basis and on special occasions. If you signed up for Mustang Alley this year, you could register to take a tour during the first week of 2015 production. I was fortunate to get in with another guy who is going and got picked.
I'd love to be seeing my ordered car built then!

Actually, the old Mustang assembly plant building was torn down back in 2004 when they moved production to Flat Rock. The F-series truck plant is on the same big campus as the former Dearborn Assembly, but it is a different building. Ford invested in that plant and really did a nice job to make it tour friendly. what's so hard about letting someone see their car being built?
