Because of the safety standards, the designers are put into a box that they have to work within. As a result, you will see some similarities in the various automobile designs. I don't think the new Mustang rear fenders look anything like the current Camaro fenders.

As I stated in previous posts Larry ! The rear fenders on the current Camaro were inspired by the 69-70 Mustang fastback.. As you can clearly see the similarities between them..
I would say the Camaro's fenders are clearly a modern interpretation of the original '67-'68 Camaro. Any similarity to the Mustang's is much more incidental.

I think what people are seeing is the fact that the Hips Grow out of a Monocoque Fusilage style Body on both the Mustang and the Camaro now. I see it a little bit, however it looks far more Refined and Sculpted on the Mustang and More like Oragami on the Camaro...
once upon a time, when i started bike racing, mom said, why don't you take up origami instead. Well i did try a Camaro. As with origami, it just wasn't exciting enough
I think everyone here has it all wrong.
The back half of the Mustang doesn't look like a Charger or Camaro....
It looks very very much like an Infiniti Q60 Coupe:

The Greenhouse/Roofline on the Mustang is lower along with more of a fastback profile.. The hip line is also different !

Actually they're refered to as Quarter Panels, just as the Small Windows behind the Door Glass is Called a Quarter Window.
As for the 2015 looking like that Horrible Infiniti Abomination...
I can see some of what You're talking about Moustang. Mainly the Lower Side Sculpture in front of, and Behind the Rear Wheel, but that's It. I hate that God Awful C Pilar and Quarter Window, with that Reverse Kink that Infiniti has Adopted Across the Board it is Hideous! The Mustang is a Much More Attractive and Classically Designed Automobile, and Only Looks Like a Mustang in My Opinion.

You're talking about less visual difference than there is between an Acura TSX and a Honda Accord, which BTW, are really the exact same car.

I'm sure in your eyes that looks like two completely different cars, not two versions of the exact same car.
No they aren't, not even close. The TSX is based off the Euro Accord and is smaller. It's a completely different platform. The current US Accord is a full size car now.
