I was basing that comment off of the 1000 car limited production rumor. I can easily see that selling above MSRP if it's that limited.
If it's not limited, then I would not expect to see any marketing adjustment. Since Brian has a better view of this than I do, I was picking his mind on the validity of the 2014.5 being that limited.

Anyway, I ended up not ordering yesterday due to a beginning-of-winter delivery.. Let's hope this 2014.5 happens.

No problems. I worked in the car biz for over a decade. Only the "true car guys" knew anything about up and coming vehicles. We found most of our information online rather than through higher ups. Then again, Brian's regional rep may be a "car guy" himself and may be privy to some info.

My take? I'm sure Ford wanted to ensure S550 was ready for the big celebrations on April 17th but I also think they probably needed a Plan B in case it didn't make it in time........and that Plan B was to have an S197 based '14.5MY available. THAT'S why I think the existence of the '14.5 was denied by Ford........because they didn't know if they'd need it or not.
Given the most recent spyshots of S550 testing (with its production nose exposed), you'd be forgiven for thinking the April 2015 timescale was achievable. Clearly there must be a good reason why S550 won't be ready in time as, for me, having S550 ready for April 17th HAD to be Plan A.

- 1999 35th Anniversary GT: 6500 planned, only 4628 sold.
- 2000 Spring Feature GT: 6000 planned, only 3901 sold.
- 2001 Bullitt GT: 6500 planned, less than 5600 sold
- 2003 Mach 1: 6500 planned, nearly 10,000 sold with a 2nd year added with another 7000 plus sold
- 2008 Bullitt GT: couldn't sell out of them, so they rolled the remainder into 2009 production.
I think Ford can sell more than 1,000 50th Anniversary models, and they'll likely be ready to make several thousand, IMHO.

I know a few people within Ford, but unfortunately none of them are working on the upcoming Mustang (any longer). I've learned over the years to be careful what I post. I've seen some posters with inside info get fired for sharing too much. I shared too much once upon a time and caused a bit of a stir way up the food chain with someone who's name is on our favorite cars. Since then, I've been careful to discuss only what is appropriate.
Nice car. I was almost certainly going to get a SGM GT until I saw the Ruby Red. :-)

7000 were planned, approx 6600 were sold in total. As I understand it, Ford had to pay the Warner Bros royalty for all 7000, not on a per unit sold basis. So they were pretty committed to get close to 7000.

True. But keep in mind the 08's were released as a Job 2. And 09 was short production for all Mustangs so they could retool for the 2010 diaper. So it was really only a 12 mo. production run, not two years like you make it sound.

Happy to help! My '11 was a SGM GT, and when I bought my '14 GT, I had narrowed it down to another SGM or Ruby Red. I've never owned a red car in my life, so this is color shock for me!

I'm hoping that they use the Detroit autoshow to unveil it, just like chevy did with the stingray. For the 2005 year mustang they showed it at the 04 autoshow. Makes me wonder why we haven't seen a mule without camo yet.

it gets kind of redundant year after year. Last year was fun cause i got to see the new Stingray up closeish. And i would look forward to the autoshow even more this coming year if it was revealed then.
