I agree. I does need the Dorito Window though and not the 69-70 merged window. and maybe a little more overhang in the back. I just needs some tweaking in the right directions and this could really be it.

Funny thing....

...The only year that the window was on there was the 1966 Shelby GT350.
the 65 through 68 all had vents. So Ford took that one Shelby Model and from 2005 to 2014 made it a decade long design theme....I think it's time to switch it up a little. I'm all for the true coupe 69-73 window design that had no b-pillar. That would open up the cabin a lot. See below:

Ford seems to be doing away with b-pillars....

I agree completely. I like the Shelby quarter windows, but I wouldn't mind moving to something more akin to what most all other Mustangs had. If they did decide to move to a true fastback configuration (which could conceivably eliminate the b pillar and allow for a big beefy c pillar) a return to a true hardtop could be plausible.

I agree, I would like to see a 69/70 style quarter window. Love the window silhouette on this example:

Good point Sean. If they can go pillar-less, I'd be up for the look. The '69 still remains my favourite bodystyle.....although that's as much to do with the overall agressive look, as much as the window line.

At the end of the day, whatever Ford comes up with, if you can take the pony off the nose and still instantly recognise it as a Mustang, than we'll be all good

I'd still like to see some more 'chops based on the red-Evos themed one you posted though......add more hip, a longer tail (ducktail rear spoiler?) and a more forward slope to the nose (hint hint Sean, c'mon )

can the mustang rendering in post #1305 be done in shiny gloss black? and if possible elongate the front end so theres more hood in front of the windshield, like the area between the front tires and the winshield cowl.. maybe just a few inches there....

I dont think "Global" needs to be bland and unrecognizable. Look at the BMW 3 Series, it's not a generic coupe. The Mustang should evolve much like the Porsche 911. At first you might say 911s haven't changed much (a good thing) but If you look at 911's over the years side by side you see they really have changed a lot but have remained true to some basic desing ideas.
This is why I loved the '05 "reset". Now I'm all for a modern more world class car but it should look like a descendent of the current and first generation cars.

not sure they would get enough torsional rigidity from a pillarless design to provide the ride quality and chassis stiffness they need. but it would look good.

Well clearly its possible (see the Benz), the question is at what cost. But remember they will eventually be removing the B AND C pillars for the convertible. So if they already have the stiffness, perhaps they can tune the suspension in the vert so it doesn't ride like an early 90's Buick.

This was my major complaint with the '05.

I got a huge amount of positive feedback on Facebook for that chop, both foreign and domestic (my intent). There are some obvious items on the car that wouldn't see production but it would start a fire none the less...

Semi-viral, about 500 shares and over 1600 likes combined. Not bad...

I really like this... When I first saw the Neo Mad Max concepts I thought to myself those would make some wild new Mustangs with a few things tempered down. Somewhere between this, the Evos concept and that Shelby GR1 concept, I see the next Mustang. So anyway I had to go to your page and LIKE it!

I still think the Guigiaro concept is where the '15 is headed. But with a different rear end. I almost kinda see it as a a modern New Edge. More drawing in the works but this i what i got
