Except for the front end, yes.

The render shows great artistic skill, the render is executed near perfectly and effectively communicates the concept, but the concept is not exciting.

I don't expect the car to be something I've never seen, but the body side should identify itself as a Mustang. A c-scoop is not necessary, but I'd argue a c-line is.

Perhaps you should open your eyes ! If you can't see the similarity between the OP's rendering and the current Camaro? Then it's you who is obviously blind

The mustang render has a downward sloping roof line. The Camaro stays almost flat to the rear pillar. Front looks nothing like the Camaro. The rocker panels are similar until the rear of the car where the mustang slants upward and the Camaro again stays flat. Even the hips aren't the same. Camaro starts after the door ends. Where on the mustang the hip line starts in the door. Hood line nothing similar, Camaro is flat and the mustang has a power dome and a sharp curve at the front....only similarities I see are V8 and rear wheel drive with two doors

Yes there are similarities but its only a render, not a production mustang so it shouldnt really be that much concern. Ford wouldnt design their car after their rival

I think the concepts vision of the production model is pretty close. The concept in general was very nicely done and it is my favorite on the web so far (even more than mine). As for looking like a Camaro... The only similarities are the rocker skirt angles but that angle is pretty much universal.

I hope that it retains the rear of this concept and even works in the hatch to make the Mustang even more livable.

I think his Point is if you cut off the roof and nose the core of the body is dam near the same. It is like they took a camaro body shell and changed the roof and nose.

Where you guys see Camaro I see Mustang. Specifically the 69-70 and 71-73. The core of the body shares similarities with both and the quarter window is directly lifted from 71-73. I fully agree 1967-1970 was the sweet spot. But I also think as a collective people tend to discount design themes after 1970.

67-70 was the best design for the Mustang and i think it will stand the test of time for decades to come. The Mustang went through alot of design changes after 1970 possibly in an attempt to really find the track the design team should follow. However this just ended up creating tons of body style changes from the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and then into the new century.

The next gen i believe will be an evolution of the Mustangs most popular body styles and contain cues from each while making some new leaps in design itself.

Yes ! I totally understand where your coming from and agree with you.. Perhaps I wasn't specific enough in my post, as I was merely trying to point out the only similarities I see between the Camaro and Mustang render is the slope in the greenhouse.. I didn't mention anything about the front end, hip lines or door panels being similar nor identical at all..

At any rate, my mistake for not being clear or specific enough in my original post..

If that's where his head is at then you could do this with any modern coupe and say it looks like a Camaro. That's just ignorant. All these cars are going to have similar parts. Without the 4 doors the Charger could be thrown in. I mean this really is a ridiculous comparison.

First of all ! That wasn't where my head was at all. I was merely stating an opinion and that opinion was directed at the greenhouse portion of the Mustang rendering and Camaro.. I didn't mention anything about body panels, front end or anything else being similar whatsoever.. And since when is it ignorant for someone to post an opinion ? Now that is completely ridiculous

Well the Mustang was (and still is) the car to beat. So why not follow the leader and follow success?

Ill always have a mustang in my parking spot but i wont steer clear of other sports cars. I will say ill never own a camaro unless its a pre-70 model. Even then itd be a project car at most. Experimental stuff.
