I honestly like the SS, for a Chevy...

I just can't get past the fact that the body, sans fascias, looks identical to the G8. For the matter, I'd save $20k and buy a used G8 GXP. The SS is $10k too expensive for what it is. The SRT8 is close in price, but you get a much more performance oriented package.

Felt strong, V8 sang a nice song, interior was above and beyond. Impressed the hell out of me. The wife tells me I can't be happy with 4 doors. Maybe she's right. That said, I've NEVER owned a GM product but right now they have this SS, the CTS Vsport & Corvette. All are excellent performance bargins. The CTS-V will be out soon and I am wondering that beast will bring. I am not listing the Camaro, because I have driven it and it did me the tremendous favor of convincing me I needed a 2011 Mustang. Thanks Camaro.
Only gm vehicle I am interested in is the ats-v and it hasn't even been revealed yet. The new cts is too big for my taste now.

I really like the SS/G8 body - great clean, athletic lines and proportions that doesn't need, and looks best without, a lot of tack-on "performance" goofery. I actually think the G8's cleaner fasciae look better than the somewhat busy and slightly confused SS fasciae.

The SS's price does seem a touch steep; though not outrageous, I wouldn't call it a bargain either. Perhaps that's the price of limited production and having to drag the things here from literally the other end of the earth.

As for Ford; my prediction: an S550-based sedan within a year or three, likely a desperately needed Lincoln model but maybe/also as a Ford model. I don't think Ford is keen on having a one-model platform again, ala the S197.

If for anything, a government contract again. I'm seeing more and more PPV Caprices along with the Chargers. The cops I have talked to just love the Caprice. Our local PD's still run Crown Vic's but no newer Fords. A new Crown Vic, Lincoln LS, V8 Falcon, or something along those lines would be nice to see.

What if they used the S550 chassis to underpin the next taurus? With a 3.8 ecoboost and solid driving dynamics it could be a winner. Just have to slim it down and actually have nice interior room. Or underpin a new Lincoln sedan thats desperately need by the brand to stay afloat in this market

Lmao. ^ Bring on a whole line up of mustang various vehicles. Just because one is a soccer mom doesn't mean she can't be cool and sexy with a 5.0 Mustang Mini Van. Holds up to 7 passengers while rocketing the family 0-60 mph in under 7 seconds. Lmao.

Need to pull a boat? What better way to do so in your new Mustang pick up truck? We could be onto something here fellas.

The BMW 3/4 Series family might be a good analog as the 3 Series sedans hardly seems to dilute the character of the 4 Series coupes. An M3 sedan offers a great and equal alternative for those with the need for a four door (job, family, etc.) yet still want a hi-po ride.

As for a four door S550 chassis variant, sure, call it something like " Maverick" or "Torino" or something, but I think it would make a great addition to the Ford lineup.

Don't even get me started on a 3 (shooting brake) or 5 door S550 wagon!

If ford made a RWD 5.0 Sedan using the S550 platform I would almost definitely buy that instead of the Mustang.
