2015 Mustang renders based on CAD images
I never used to hate the diaper on the 10-12's until I started coming across your posts about how ugly the diaper is. Then I started noticing... other Mustangs as I drove around and saw them from the rear. I was like "That guy is right... It's hideous."
Sigh..
So now.. '13/'14 rear end conversion is on my list..

Look what you've done to me!
Interesting hearing your feedback, guys.
I have to say that I'm generally quite impressed. The car is clean, understated and lean looking and that is massively appreciated. Don't worry, the GT/SVT models will look meaner...as much as I love the '13/'14 models, it's very "in your face" and it's not looking as good now that we have had it around for a couple of years. Keeping some similar aesthetics but cleaning it up at the same time is a great move, IMO.
The B-Pillar and back are gorgeous. I agree with those who would have liked more "hips." The addition of the hips was one of the main reasons that I vastly prefer the '10 bodystyle to the '05...so the S550 is a step back in that measure (in my humble opinion). Still, it's a very cohesive, athletic, clean design that will age very well.
I'm pysched to see more. I want to know how it will look in competition orange in GT trim.

Looks like a car my mom would drive. Very bland and ugly
Funny thing is on another forum people were saying this is just the base model. Newsflash- Ford isn't going to make the v6 and GT very different appearance wise. That was a huge mistake in the past and the sales of 2011+ v6 prove that. The v6 keeps the GT in production. There will be very little distinction just like there is today.

Are we really going to have people whining about the diaper again? This is nowhere near as bad as the '10-12. Isn't it time to move on?
I think we're close, but not exact. It gives people a better idea of what to expect. On the other hand, Ford can use this to gauge customer feedback early, and they may adjust the refresh or other changes accordingly.

like it or not the black plastic valance area is pretty common styling element on sports cars now looks tastefully done, very similar to the 435 msport.
thought a good point in the article was speculating that the cad drawings were from a base model which would explain the plainer look and potentially the rocker panels being painted on uplevel models
plus this is a render based on looking at cad drawings not the actual cad drawings themselves probably lose alot of the little details

I think a lot is left to be desired and we just don't get that with this render though we do get a peak at what some of the details may be. I hated the Vette renders but the car is way different in reality though looking at the car and then the renders I see where their ideas came from. I think the Vette renders were much more accurate than these and still thought the car had to be seen in person to be judged.
Biggest problem I see here Steve is that these renders remind me of the Jalopnik renders of the Corvette. I get no depth of feel. It looks flat and 2 dimensional and nothing like all that is going on with the spy ****s we've seen. I think yes this is kind of an idea of what the overall car will look like but I think I can't say it is the car nor is it as close as your percentages.

I agree with you 100%. A rendering on paper, or even the CAD files themselves, can't accurately depict the way light hits the surfaces or how they mesh together. My percentage is based on the limited info I have. There are differences, but I won't go into them at this time. Overall, as I mentioned, it gives people a more cohesive design to understand at this point. By the end of the year, we should know what the true form of S550 is.
I didn't even think about light reflection and that type of detail. I do agree with you that we will have a very good idea of what to expect. It will still be sweet to see in person though. I'm still wrapping my head around the SVT mule. Something tells me it's crazy like a Raptor and hair raising fast.
Funny thing, to me, are wheels. Wheels look bad on every type of render except for some good hot rod drawings. Wheels have a hard time coming through proportionally in renders and as shown by the Boss/Brembo/GT500 cars the real deal just look so good.
Sweet Jeezuz I hope it looks more like that and less like the render! I wasn't sure how the bubble roof was going to work but now I can see it! That's a beaut!
Shows you how the same general design with a few subtle differences in detail can totally change the feel of the car.
