My assumption was that the 50th anniversary would be celebrated with the introduction of the all new car as a '15MY.

Deysha just said that there will be a limited production run for the 50th anniversary version as a 2014 1/2 model... so this is confirmed.

I am beyond confused now...the way this is stated it's as if the 50th anniversary will be the last hurrah of the current model if it will come out WITH the 2014 models...I'm rather lost.

Actually what Deysha says makes sense and its entirely possible. For starters both Ford and J. Mays keep on referring to the first stang as the '64.5, and in interviews past he kept on alluding to the next gen model as the anniversary model.
Another thing.....FRAP is currently under renovation as part of the $550 million investment to upgrade the facility for the next Fusion and Mustang. Their expecting job-1 of the '14 Fusion to be in June.....the '14.5 mustang(next gen) could follow soon after that, built along side the current '14 model!

Given that the 2014MY could be a long run, depending on when the order books for the 2015 open (which, in turn, could be a good few months before the car is seen in public??) I guess there's room and time for a '14.5.......just to tied us over to until S550? Seems unlikely, but Deysha's normally spot on with her information.
Of course, perhaps she's just knowing we'll bite

Those were my original thoughts, Steve..........so Deysha's comments about a '14.5 came as a little surprise.

To me, with the current trend of when models have been coming out, a 14.5 mustang wouldn't make any sense. Say the ordering for the 2014 starts March/April next year (2013) that would make a potential 2014.5 during what...september? That's still 6 months away from a true 50 anniversary...it would be more like a 49th anniversary mustang...to me it just doesn't make sense. The 2015MY big change is what I still expect to be the 50 anniversary.

Do we have to keep going over this again and again? There is absolutely no such thing as a 1964 1/2 model year Mustang. They were all marketed, advertised and VIN numbered as 1965 models. Now people choose to distinguish early production 1965 models by referring to them as "1964 1/2 Mustangs" because they were built early in the 1964 calendar year with certain production specifications before a few changes and upgrades were made for the remainder of the 1965 model year. You can't go back and change factual history. Mustangs may have a 1964 production date but it will never be the model year.
Now the Mustang 50th Anniversary date is April 17, 2014. Ford should have the 2015 model year Mustang in production by then if they are going to celebrate it to accurately repeat history. It should in no way be referred to being a 2014 1/2 model year Mustang. You cannot put that on a VIN number anyway. It has got to be either a 2014 or a 2015 model year Mustang.
Also past anniversary models were always celebrated with whatever Mustang would be in production on April 17th of the anniversary year. All the previous anniversary models fell during the calendar years ending in 4 or 9 because they are multiples of 5 from the original 1964 production date. They do not count the anniversary from the model year. Most previous generation Mustangs stayed close to the traditional fall new model year introduction runs which would end in late summer of the following year. That is why Anniversary models were celebrated with whatever Mustang was in production on April 17th of the calendar year.
If Ford does not pull ahead the 2015 Mustang so it is introduced on April 17, 2014 then the anniversary model will indeed be a 2014 model.

Okay, this was posted in another thread as well, just wanted to make sure everyone sees the same message. We made a mistake. We misunderstood the information and we're sorry for causing all this confusion:
Technically, there was never a 1964 ½ MY. All production units for the 1965 MY were VIN coded for 1965, including the original production units. Any model year can have minor changes with each mid-model year production job update (I’m sure all of you knew this info already, LOL).
I’m still on the edge of my seat along with you guys to see what’s in store and for when.
I know this… 2014 MY production will begin in the first quarter of 2013 and all 2014 MY units will be 2014.

Wow.. Can we keep on subject.. And to 80Cobra don't think all V6 guys are clueless, Not every Mustang enthusiast needs 420+ HP. I drive my Mustang everyday to work and back and instead of owning a Japanese econobox I as well as a lot of other V6 owners wanted the enjoyment of their daily cars having all the features of the GT but at a lower cost of ownership. I have seen a lot of Mustang GT owners putting them in the garage and driving them once in a blue moon while their daily car is a Toyota, Honda or some other Japanese lame *** family car in the same color as 95% of all the rest of the cars on the road.. So who is the more supportive of the Ford and Mustang group. The ones driven and seen or the ones hid in some garage never to see the light of day. I praise the one owner on here and I am sure there are others that have a daily V6 Mustang and the GT/Boss/GT500 in the garage. I own two Fords and flat refuse to own any Japanese cars and with cars out by Ford like the new Fusion/CMax/Focus ST and even a new Fiesta ST why would there be the need to send the capital gains overseas. Ford is trying to bring the profits back to the good ol USA and I praise them for trying to grab the market share the best they can. They have been doing a great job as the fact in Motor Trends car of the year two Fords were runners up. I suspect the new Mustang will have its share of naysayers but may hopefully pull in the younger crowd as stated. Not everyone likes the SN-95/New edge and believe it or not not everyone likes the Foxbody Mustangs when they came out (including me) I hated the look of the foxes in the 80ies it was not until later years they grew on me. Now with the end of the S197 that also had its hates and followers the same will hold true of the MY2015. Sorry for being so long winded. Just guys like 80Cobra needs to look at the bigger picture or run around with his checkbook to pay the difference anytime someone wants to buy a V6 he can shell out the Extra $$$ so we can all own 5.0's .... /END RANT!!
