I like the interior of the new car, but I like the interior of my S197's, as well. I like the side & rear of the S550, but the front is horrible! I like the looks of the S197 so much better. I know it'll be a big hit with a lot of people, but until the S550 comes from the factory with drag racing in mind, I'll pass. This won't be the first Mustang generation I've stayed away from. I can't stand the '71-'73's, nor did I ever like the '94-'98's. I guess I'll just hang onto my '14 until the 7th gen Mustang debuts, perhaps.
Exactly, as much as I love the S550, if I owned a 13-14 the S550 would not be enough for me to "upgrade".

I remember when the 1994 dated the Foxbody, I remember when 1999 dated the 1994, I remember when the 2005 dated the 2004, I remember when the 2010 dated the 2005, and now I see where the 2015 dates the 2014s.

That's a lot of dating!

Having followed this car for awhile now, having seen them multiple times, and even having one coming (although it's been sitting at Flat Rock since September 9, so I am losing the luster for it some), I've come to this conclusion - I am a bona fide Mustang enthusiast with not enough money and storage space. I do think there is a 'modern quality" to the styling, but interestingly enough, it's actually starting to become somewhat familiar to me. I've been staring at photos for way too long!

In this time of waiting, I've been rediscovering some of the angles and lines of my 2010 that will always be pleasing to me, and not necessarily a replacement by any of the styling elements of the 2015s.

I suppose in a few more years, when the next refresh happens, it will make the 2015s look dated. It's wild how the chase for newness can sometimes overshadow what's in front of us at the moment. I guess that's what makes me hopeless!

I had the chance ot order either model. I went with the 2014 GT. I took my son to the Ford dealers ship yesterday to look at the new model. There were alot of people looking at it. Gt with Recaros. The car is still no to my licking on the out side. The seats and interior materials are great. not a fan of the dash. While we where looking at it I had a older gent tell me to site in the car with the hood down and look straight ahead. Wow I could not have that hood flare sticking in front of me. he laughed and said I will not buy it for that reason. A few other left then as well. I am glad I have a 2014. I am sure it will sell but the price seems to high on the Gt models.

I saw the new 2015 GT in person and from the rear it has an awesome stance. The front and side of the car is a difficult sell for me. The headlight covers and the way they wrap around to the side takes the aggressive mustang look away. I enjoy my 2014 GT and the way it looks from front to back. As performance for each car, the 2014 will easily take the 2015 at the drag strip stock vs stock. I do not like the idea the mustang has gained major weight of over 200 pounds. The new mustang is close to the SS Camaro's weight. Even with my opinion there will be new buyers for this car which love the more European sculpture and the opportunity to have a 4 banger which will be economical and yet have enough power to feel happy about.

Wow... the view down the hood is amazing to me. That little detail is one of the things that turned me around.

Wow it's funny with opinions because I drove the new '15 and didn't like staring at the two ridges in the hood?

Here's the thing for me. When I look at this picture from Steeda, I can't keep my eyes off the red S197. It looks fantastic in every respect and I'm certain the performance is there, too. The S550 barely registers in my consciousness. I might glance at it for a second but my eyes are instantly drawn back to the S197.

Well yeah, one of them is red...the other isn't. That's just science, man!

To be fair, the S550 I saw in person was yellow and I felt the same ennui towards it when compared to my yellow S197.

Nice perspective. I like going on a lot of dates then!

I just bought a 2014, and I really love it. I look at the 2015 and... I really love it (though I was on the fence initially).

I certainly wouldn't replace my 2014 anytime soon - my only disappointment with this car is the fact that even though the v6 is quite practical for what I use it for, that sweet taste of power has me wondering what it would be like to taste more.... I occasionally think MAYBE I should have gotten a v8?!

And I suspect that instead of keeping the 2014 for 10 years like I intended, I'll be chopping those years short because of those occasional thoughts. Maybe not in a year or two, but certainly not 10.

the side by side pics of a 15 vs a S197, still dont sway me a bit... havent seen one 'for real' except at the auto show, hoping to see one on a dealer lot in the sunshine this week, will give it another chance...but unlike the 2005 that just screamed Mustang to me when i first saw it in 2004, this new one just didnt catch my eye any more than any model from 74-04, and a lot LOT less than any 65-73 or 05-09 or 13-14 (still hate the 10-12 tails... never got over it, never will). All the years that didnt appeal to me enough to go buy one were still mustangs/still good cars/etc... just everyone has their favorites
interior/power improvements are great, still think 90% of the folks clamoring for IRS wont know the difference or ever even warm up those massive brakes... but to those that will, yee-ha, these things are gonna be screamers for sure... but to me, like with the late, great GTO- if a awesome car dont have the 'gotta have it' styling, it might have a hard time no matter how great. I hope buyers will be all over the 15, but to me the price is getting out of line and the styling is detouring away from the first generations again... will know in a year- even getting a 06 was a waiting game for me, backlogs/ADMs were still rampant a full year into the new S197... I hope for Fords sake it will happen again, but to my minds eye, the 16 wont likely be seeing backorders: just the general consensus from EVERYONE ive talked to personally was about the same as my 'meh'... dont dislike it, but didnt dislike the GTOs either- just didnt 'want' one at first glance.
kinda glad the 15 didnt resemble a 69 in a way though...we are out of garage space, think building yet another garage woulda been a harder sell to the wife than another mustang...so I'm safe till the next iteration at least...

I'm actually happy I don't like the 2015 ... my 2012 is almost paid off .. and I don't need to go back in debt so soon.

I think the new Stang looks great. With that being said, while it may somewhat make the old model look dated, it does not detract from it. Mustang owners are a particular bunch and each has its favorite styles. I own a Fox Stang as well as an S197. Even though the 2 are a night and day difference, I still love the little fox and all its eccentricities.
The one thing I think you will find is that like every generation of Mustang it takes a few styling changes to get it right. The first of a model is never the most memorable. In 10 years the styling will have evolved, as well as the powertrains, and the 2015 will be dated within its own platform.

I finally saw one at the stealership lot this past weekend. I have to say that I am not impressed. Other than IRS which the "jury" is still out on, there isn't enough new to get me to want to trade my 2013 in. They had the 2015 parked next to the 2014/13's just like the photo above and feel the 15 isn't mustang enough. My 13 screams American Muscle. The 15 is a nice looking car, but is the same way I think the Mazda 6 or Audi A4 is a nice looking car. Just not enough for me, so I will wait for the refresh and enjoy watching what the aftermarket comes up with in the meantime.

I just noticed the lack of front end pictures on your post, Fox.

Still looks like a Fusion up there. The *car* doesn't... just the front bit.

The sides and back are righteous. Just.. I dunno.

If they got rid of that jutting lip (underbite?) that might help, I'd think.

I'm slowly turning and I like the look ragtop on the 2015. Well I like ragtops on all cars but the 2015 is growing on me. Not the drool factor I have with the 2013/14 though.

I have a 2012 'vert, and I absolutely love it for 5 months out of the year. Oregon isn't the best place to have a convertible, it rains half the year. If you live in a warmer climate, convertibles are awesome. I also think the S550 vert looks a LOT better than mine. The way the top integrates with the hips and doesn't chunk-out the backend is really nice, not to mention how awesome cloth is over the vinyl top I have.

Quick Reply: 2015 instantly dates the S197, Ford nailed it.
