2015 Ford Mustang: What to Expect (M/T)
it seems like i'm in the minorty... but i like that render.
an improvement over the current mustang, in my opinion.
not a huge fan of that front bumber, but that headlight/grill area looks spot on.
the current one looks akward.
the rear still has the diaper, but it seems to fit in a bit more.
if the rearlights were a modern take on the '67-'68 stangs (a la one of burningman's works), it would be perfect with that rear shape

I dont mind the render either, I see some GT500 and Terminator in there. IMO it wouldn't be half bad for the 2013 car, but I'd expect something a bit more radical for the new Mustang which I wonder if we've seen some of which with the Guigario Mustang?
^^This. I think there is no way Ford would release this as a 2015, not nearly enough change from the current style.
Presumed specs sound pretty plausible. I think the render is probably closer to an '13 refresh than the '15 redo, the latter of which will likely be a more avant garde take on the Mustang DNA (but very much a Mustang).
Motor Trend have never offered any information that any one of us couldn't come up with given 5 minutes.
I also agree that the photoshop looks more like a refresh than a new model. Very uninspired.

No one was talking '15 in Detroit this weekend but I do know a front end change for sure and a possible rear clean up are in store for the '13. As for the much talked about IRS, apparently it has been on the table for the last two cars and axes on cost as they came down to locking specs in order to deliver on better engines and other things. Also told that they have BMW as a bogey but only to a certain extent. They want the Mustang to be more visceral and a bit more of a hooligan. More fun at lower speeds basically for the "Everyman" and Woman.
I like the idea that the Mustang is not a car for everyone. I don't want it to become a sports car for the masses. At least not the V8 version. A grandmother could drive the new 5.0 without problems, and I feel like it has lost that "edge" it used to have. I realize there is no easy answer to a compromise between progress and still retaining this feeling, but I hope they at least manage to take things back a little to where they were as far as raw driving experience goes.
+1^^^ although I like the balance of the 05+, not as fun as my 03 to drive or even my 92 notch I had. The newer ones have great weight transfer, hook and hold the road better. That good but not why I like driving a mustang. The thrill is gone.

They were the last Mustang that really had that rough around the edges rowdy muscle car feel to them. Say what you want about refinement and progress, I never got sick of that feeling that those cars gave.

All of the older Mustangs that I've driven felt faster than my S197, but they weren't...because they couldn't put the power to the ground. I liked feeling faster, but I realized that the "raw" feeling was just the car's suspension feeling like trash. And last time I checked, the Mustang *is, and always has been*, a car for everyone.
I can't wait to see the new redesign. Lookin' forward to hopefully some leaked photos...
