Carl is probably one of the most professional salesmen you will meet. He's a straight shooter. I've bought two vehicles from him. If he says something it is probably a lock.

This dealer is/was also a Saleen, SHM, and SVT dealer. They hosted our SVT Chapter meetings and they keep up with the latest Ford performance info.

So... It sounds like the 2011 Mustangs, that you can order on Nov. 23rd (order bank opens officially) will have the 4.6, seeing that he said the 5.0 can be ordered in Jan. 2010? Now I am really getting confused. Ford will have a hard time selling 4.6L 2011 Mustangs if that is what he is saying.

Something is not right here or we are just misunderstanding this. They can not even sell the '10's with the 4.6.

Since the Mustang was introduced on April 17, 1964, Ford has reserved a special event for April 17, 2010, just 46 years later. For starters the 5.0 Mustang will be available to order in January 2010, as a 2011 model. Carol Shelby will re-introduce the GT-350 after Ford officially announces the 302 has returned. Since there is no substitution for displacement the 6.2 Liter V-8 will also be made available in the model year 2011. With the ordering guide in hand these 45 Anniversary cars should be on the ground and ready for delivery in April 2010. This is just a little of the pre-view of the events Ford and Shelby has planned to celebrate the 45 anniversary of the Mustang.

How old/accurate is this info? The 45 anniversary has come and gone, no? 45th Anniv ed Mustangs are already on the streets...

I know right.

What would 2011 be the 45th Anniversary of?

45th Anniversary of the 302? Edit: Nope the 302 started in the 1968 model year.

It just doesn't seem like a credible source to me.

This thread was fifteen minutes of my life that I won't get back.

45th Anniversary 2011?

C'mon, something is real fishy there...

EDIT: At the start of the e-mail...

At the end of the e-mail...

So... the 45th anniversary, 46 years later? If I forgot my anniversary for a year, my girl would be very, VERY angry. Not to mention, she'd doubt I passed first-grade.

That means nothing....I can walk into any dealer right now and say "I want to give you $500 now for your first 2011, 2012, 2013 or 2014 order" And they would take my money! Many Dealers played this game back in 2004 with many many people and most of them didn't get their cars until 3-4 months after the 2005s were already on lots. This thread is about obtaining concrete information on the powerplants that will be available on Nov 23rd. and when the 5.0 can be ordered.

That all said though, I think the basic point stands that Ford is no longer the only pony in the paddock and will have to be far more aggressive, price wise, than they have in the past. I think they'll have to restrain themselves to within about a grand of the two respective Camaro models (1SS, 2SS) with the standard and Premium GTs.
I hope you are right. I can remember so many "new and improved" Mustangs that people paid over sticker to be the first to park it under their garage (the first 2003 Cobra's, the first S197 GT's, the first GT500's).

Nonetheless, the Camaro is butt-ugly. And they are still selling for way over sticker price. You can buy a Corvette 6-speed for almost the price of a Camaro SS, and the Corvette weighs 600-700 pounds less.

I'll bet a beer that many guys will pay over sticker for a 2011 Mustang 5.0/6.2L.

And whose fault is it? You can blame the dealer, but if Mustang guys would just be patient; no one would ever pay over list price.

I just bought my 16th Mustang. I have never even paid near the MSRP for any car or truck. But I've never been the first one on the block to own the newest model.

Fixed

While there will be people out there paying out the nose... for a 5L (no 6.2...cause it won't happen) it'll be few and far between.

Different time/place/economy

With the LA show less than a month away I would've figured more concrete info would've leaked out by now.

I'm just guessing, but i would think a 5.0L 400 horsepower engine would use premium grade gasoline.
