It's gonna need some serious tech to get around there that quick.

Boomer, I like the way you put it.

JR
That's another way of interpreting it, but going off other info it is indeed a big bore Condor. Cheers.

There's also rumor that the zl1 was running cup tires. It was confirmed it had a roll cage and recaros and other cooling system parts. So not exactly a 100% stock car. I don't see why Ford couldn't play that same game.

Just one more reason, that while i think ring times are cool to watch/discuss ill never hold them as gospel. Not standardized enough to my liking

Thats the problem with 'ring times, they are the modern equivalent of the horsepower wars in the 60's (or if your prefer, a page from Ferarri's playbook). The cars are not 100% stock so they don't represent what your getting off the showroom floor.

Not that it will ever happen,but there needs to be something akin to SAE certification when they pull these stunts (witnessed by a 3rd party that has a checklist to verify the condition and quality of the vehicle and a prescribed run procedure ---> start here, end there and so forth)

Cool, ever get to level bad guys and rough terrain with an AC-130?

You would think that if GM was so proud of it's performance they would announce it's 1/4 mile time, no? Not some time around the Ring that almost no one else will attempt.

I would have to agree that they were using Cup tires, look what they did for the Z06. Shoot, I could put a set on my lawn mower and cut the grass in record setting time.

While that would've been cool, I've just hauled people and stuff all over the Middle East.

not a 7:41....

the 351 is simply a ~3.7 bore 5.4 with spray liners.

How do you know what the 2013 GT500 ran at the 'Ring? What time did it run? Where did the 7.3x rumors come from?

If the 351 is, in fact, a bored Condor, it would feature a cylinder bore a little under 3.7", correct. I don't know what this has to do with 'Ring times, though. The GT500's problem has never been power -- I feel a (rumored) TVS-blown 5.8L with forged internals (something the ZL1 can't claim) can easily match the hopped-up Camaro in terms of horsepower and torque. If and how the 2013 GT500 puts that power down, though, will be the question.

Agreed.

People are so quick to crown the zl1 king and it hasn't really done anything yet. Can't wait for the 13 GT500 to put it to bed. Just like the 5.0 did to the ss, and if gm ever develops a boss competitor lol

The contract states that the Romeo Engine Assembly Plant will receive a $50 million investment and start production of a 5.8-liter supercharged V8 when the 2013 Shelby GT500 goes into production next year. The plant will also continue the production of the 6.2-liter V8 found in the Ford F-150."
Had it not been for this, I'd have guessed it'd have been a stroked 5.0, along these lines;

Instead of more nut, I'd rather see something like this;

And power, the 'ring is a big power track as well, you can get a respectable time just by dint of brute force.

In any event, the ZL1's greatest trick are the Pilot Sport Cup tires, they are DOT apporved racing tires and if you check out the latest ZR1 and Z06 times they have been run on those tires with practically no other change.

Will most likely never happen. Way too much...more than I just picked...would have to redesign the whole car...wouldn't be a working mans car any more, either...add several K$, I'd guess.

Would go a long way to solving the power to the ground issue, though.

Yes YES YES

I said that a few months ago at least. Put a transaxle in the 2015. Lets get the weight distribution right. If someone gave me one of those I'd find a way of putting it in S197.
