Also, as someone else already said, the new engines are still part of the Modular family, they're just not named in the same manner.

Yeah, definately, keep me in the loop if you hear anything. I've always wanted GT500. Might go south of the border and buy it there, just like i did with my GT.

WELL, much as I'd like to, I think I'll be driving the 5.0 for a few more years. Maybe in 2014 I can find a lightly used gt500 at about 70% RETAIL. Until then I'll just slum it in the 2011. I really really like slumming it in this car.

My guess is that since the 5.8 will be built in the same Romeo plant as the 6.2, it's likely to be a version of the 6.2.
"Now Ford’s new agreement with the UAW shows that the initial report of a 5.8-liter supercharged V8 was indeed correct. The contract states that the Romeo Engine Assembly Plant will receive a $50 million investment and start production of a 5.8-liter supercharged V8 when the 2013 Shelby GT500 goes into production next year. The plant will also continue the production of the 6.2-liter V8 found in the Ford F-150."

I'd expect it to be a de-stroked 6.2L, or a stroked and bored 5.0L. I don't think they're going to design an all-new engine family for a a niche vehicle like the GT500.
Also, as someone else already said, the new engines are still part of the Modular family, they're just not named in the same manner.

It's based off the current 5.4
Romeo Engine Plant:
Truck leadership is requiring the continuation of the 6.2L V8, a key engine
in Ford’struck lineup. The 5.4L Supercharged engine gets upgraded to
a 5.8L. The machining of 5.0L blocks continues and 5.0L connecting rod
machining is introduced. The 4.6L balances out after a very successful life
cycle. Total investment is $50M.
