So went to my appointment on Monday, they said they sealed some pinch welds and i was good to go.The rest of the week was dry until Friday morning when I run into some rain, drove only 20 miles on wet roads and got another 4 inches of water,so I called and was told to bring it on in.The dealer didn't work on it on Friday,OK so maybe its drying out, called to pick it up on Saturday only to find that they didn't work on it again, because they didn't get the seam sealing equipment because the body shop was closed on Saturday. REALLLLLLLLLLLLY. You can't call someone to open it,or get the equipment on Friday, I ended up getting the car back late Monday. It was dry for two week, but on Monday I get caught in a snow storm and wet roads thinking I was good, this morning I hear ice banging in the quarter panel,I open it up to see 4 inch ice block in there,So got another appointment on Friday.Three shop visits in two months, very mad at this point.Where do I stand as far as the lemon law.Who wants a car that needs water vacuumed out once a week.HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Depends on your state. Most are 3-4 attempts to fix the same problem, and/or 30 days in the shop (not necessarily consecutive).

Well back from the dealer visit,They got the leak specialist to work on it today, but I have no faith,All that was done was they sealed pinch welds at the tail light, which is a long way from where the water is.Thats not going to be it because I filled up with water in a snow storm, dry on top cause snow is frozen and wet on the bottom.Got to be coming form the wheel wells. This is the third visit and I out of faith.Got snow coming on Monday and I will be right back to the dealer on friday. kiwi4

When It gets warmer out and I take my car from where it's stored, I will remove the rear wheel and the inner liner and see what I can see. On my car, I don't see any obvious seams at the edge of the liner as in the picture above of the black car.

This is one of the reasons I don't drive this car in bad or wet weather. I know not everyone has that luxury or even wants to do that.

Water

After some more work on this water problem in the mustang quarter panel,I've noted there is no drain hole or its covered by the excessive sealant in the pocket. After finding the external drain I started looking in the pocket and realized that the floor in there is made of plastic and the external drain is right below and fwd of it.With it being sealed very well water will never get out,so i drilled a 3/8 hole at the edge of the sealant (see pic below).Because its plastic, there is no fear of rust, now I can pour all the water I want in there and it all drains out the exterior drain.Still need to go to the dealer and have them reseal the location in the vid in post above this one, after that I will not have this again.Kiwi4

This is my first post. I have been following the Water Sloshing In Rear Quarter Panel. I have a 2014 Mustang Convertible. I have water trapped in the Driver side rear quarter panel. I have an appointment at my Ford dealer on March 30th. I have indications from the local service rep that my problem is unknown to them and that they might not cover it under warranty. I need to get in touch with Deysha to see if she can help me before I get charged for the time trying to locate the source of the problem. Thanks.

M y dealer didn't know about the problem ether. So I printed all the blogs I could to take with me to aid in his trouble shooting .All 4 trips to the dealer was covered for mine and it would of been more ,if I hadn't made the vid for them.Due to a manufacturing defect the car is leaking and it should be covered. The convertibles on the other hand are a different horse, because the rear windows roll down, and the top retracts, its natural for water to get in there, and that's OK its sealed and painted for that reason. The problem is the water is not getting out .If its like the coupe there is a false floor ( plastic ) in that compartment that is sealed really well and that keeps the water form reaching the drain , after I knew the wheel wells were finally sealed I drilled a 3/8 hole in the false floor just in case water ever got in there again . I was able to pour as much water as I wanted to in there and it all went out the lower drain .Its also possible that the pinch weld drain might be clogged, that you can test your self in 2 seconds,It easy to find and probe it with something to see if i clear, hope this helps and good luck at the dealer.Kiwi4

Hey guys I think I have this problem and another one on my 2014 GT! For a couple months now I've noticed dampness under both the front passenger and rear passenger floor mats. After a heavy rain its worse and gets soaked. I've also been noticing when I accelerate quickly first time or two and let off the gas there is a hissing sound like something wet on a muffler and it sounds like under the passenger seat and also a sloshing when applying the brakes hard, but only the first time or so when driving somewhere. Then today I was driving home going steady about 70 and the "Service AdvanceTrack" warning came on and also most of the little yellow indicators. btw, my TPS lights stay on all the time in the winter because I put snow wheels and tires on and didn't put TPS on them, but never had it do this before. We did have some heavy rain last night too and that seems to be a pattern to other people having the advancetrack problem. So what is the consensus? Does it sound like these issues are related or a coincidence and is it an easy fix or will I have to take it to the local dealer?

Never mind guys, I figured it out on my own. The plug was clogged with a bunch of leaves and crud under the wipers by the in cabin filter. The AT hasn't come back on either so I think I'll cancel my appointment.

Well, Ford had the Mustang for three days. Determined that a build-up of leaves in the compartment was what caused the water to be trapped. I agree that leaves were an issue. But not sure how the leaves and water got into, what I believe, was a closed compartment. Oh well, paid the bill and hopefully the water will not collect the first time I wash it. If that happens they would have no reason to blame it on the leaves, which were all removed. Tnx.

2015 sloshing

I had the same issue. I lowered the top and raised the windows so I could see down into the well in front of the rear tire. It was full of water and debris. I slid the hose of my shopvac down to the bottom and suctioned out all the water. It worked fine. Not a cure but a usable treatment.

Wow, wish I had thought of trying that. I took the Mustang to the dealership. They removed the back seat and inside rear panel. Said it was full of debris. So, with that, and a previous trip, it cost me $180 to get the left side cleared and draining pretty good.

Thanks for that information!

Rear Panel Sloshing

I had the same issue an the dealer wanted $90 to tell me if it was under warranty. I found and fixed the problem for free. Lower the top then take the cover off the rear window/seat belt area, it just clicks out. There is a space right next to the fender that you can slide a wet vac hose into, the space goes all the way down to the bottom of the car. Once the water is suctioned out I took a flashlight and slid it into the space. The look from directly above the point of the lowered rear window between the molding. You should see a black round plastic piece that is about an inch high with a hole in the middle and slots on the side. Mine was caked in dirt, leaves and dog hair. I sprayed a hose right onto the gunk, poked the metal rod into the hole and the clog cleared right away. I washed it out with more water and a few blasts from the airhose. It took all of ten minutes to fix the issue. You cannot see the grommet from below the car. If you need more pics I can post them. Good luck, it's really easy once you see the clog.

Thanks for the detailed explanation and supporting pictures. Unfortunately the Mustang is no longer mine. But, I will be sure to keep this explanation to pass on to others that may have the same issues.
Thanks

Perfect reply.

Just bought a 2014 with factory warranty and will be bringing in your printed pics to the dealer this afternoon for the same dumb problem.

Lunacy.

Brought it to the dealer. They acknowledged the factory warranty period is valid; but, here's their excuse: "wheel well contains debris clogging the drain, so customer is responsible for all repairs." What a bunch of lightweights. So glad I'm in the parts business so I can stick them with the same type of responses when they order the wrong parts . . . "sorry, you bought it; you own it."

On my 06 it's the driver's side seat belt and floor behind the driver's seat that is getting wet. I saw this video but he's dealing with the seal around the driver's window. Not sure why that couldn't just be siliconed. I'll probably take it to the dealer.

The fix recommended by Texas Black Beard worked for my 2014 convertible. Now if I can just get in that cavity and clean the remaining debris out of there. The drain hole is very small but when I got a piece of 1/8 brazing rod in there the water drained out and has not as yet retuned. Maybe it'll be good for six months. I have two large maple trees in my yard and the car gets covered by leaves and the little helicopter seeds from them. It amazes me that the dealers have never run into these leak problems before.

I have a 2014 Mustang Stage 3 With only 30,000 miles on it... I'm having the same Exact problem and the dealer won't fix it under my warrenty. I paid tons of money for the warrenty I have and almost 60,000 for the car. I had previously had the same problem but it went away so I waited for it to happen again. Since then I have replaced my Mustang roush wing and put a GT500 wing on and covered up the wholes that where already drilled from Factory. The water noise started happening again I finally took it in. They told me it's because I changed the wing that water is getting in?? But it did it even before I changed the wing???? And I asked if they can at least drain the water so my car doeint rust or have Whire problems. Today my turn signals were not working right. Please help Ford just keeps pushing me away since day one I bought the car.
