Water leak

Has anybody ran their car through a touch less wash and heard what sounds like water running down the doors? After I hard it for a bit, I thought for sure it was something that was supposed to happen but I hadn't heard it like that in previous cars. Then the pressure of the water hit the passenger side window and I saw a trickle of water coming from the side view window area, inside the car! I checked the windows and they were up as far as they could go. I just bought the car, so hadn't noticed it before. Anybody else notice this?

you probably want to check the mirror nuts to make sure they are on tight and double check the mirror gaskets.

Hi 2010BLKSTANG,

My name is Deysha with Ford Customer Service. I recommend you contact your Ford dealer as soon as possible to get it diagnosed. Also, please message me with your dealer, mileage, VIN, and contact info so I can escalate this for you.

Thank you Deysha, I was going to contact them on my day off later this week. I heard the "trickle" again last night when I was sitting through a rain storm. Sounds almost like there is water dripping down the inside of the door somehow. I'll let you know what I found out. Thanks again!

Sounds like the door water shield is not sealing completely to your door.

If you take the door panel off, you'll see a plastic piece covering the door opening. This catches water that runs down the window into the door and directs it out through drain holes. Sounds like yours is not sealed completely.

Take the door panel off and use the hose to run some water down the window. You should be able to see where it's leaking from.

Simple fix. Had to do it to both doors on my old bonneville.

Interesting! How do you re-seal it?

Depends how bad the leak is. They usually use butyl rubber tape, which is like an asphalt based sealant tape that's pliable. You might be able to just push down on it and reseal. Or go to a glass shop and buy a roll of the stuff.

Thanks for the info! I'll just take it in and have them fix it since it's brand new. I trust the techs hands a bit more, lol.

Well it seems like they fixed it. The dealer had some sealer specialist come in and take a look. They resealed the doors and made some adjustments to the windows. It was pretty tough being without the Stang for half of a beautiful summer day though.
