Where does the smell emanate from? Vents? Could it be coming in the sound tube? Do they even still have those?

oh and its an 11 GT prem Automatic.

This has been an issue since mile 12(picking it up from the dealer) of owning the car for me, 20k later it is still the same.
Haven't asked the dealer about it since they seem to look at you like you have 3 heads when you bring up dumb things like this to the service dept.
Mine has done it since day one as well. I made a post about it a year ago or so. Car is fine but the smell still happens.

since it seems to only be affecting the auto cars. Could be something in the trans, maybe a slight fluid leak under aceleration onto the exhaust?

Rotten egg smell is almost always the catalytic converter. If you're smelling it inside the car you may have an exhaust leak near the mufflers that's coming into the car through the sound tubes.

I do not see how the sound tube would let smell into the cabin. If they are under throttle the air under the car would be pushing any smell away.

Air does funny things when running over uneven surfaces. Have you ever had trouble trying to open a door because of a vacuum effect while the wind was blowing past really hard? There may be a pressure differential causing a vacuum effect. Don't forget the purpose of the sound tubes themselves is to capture air pressure waves and direct them inside the car, it can do the same for smells. And like smell, sound waves don't pass through blowing wind well.

But there is another possibility, which is that the smell wasn't coming from his car at all, it was coming from the car in front of him.

Either way, a strong rotten egg/sulfur odor is a catalytic converter. It is the only part of the car that emits hydrogen sulfide.

I'm pretty sure it's the smell of carbon. Growing up I had this problem when I drove my first car in high school - my mom's 94 Chevy Astro. The issue was a defective EGR valve. I'm not sure if the mustang has it but a very wide range of vehicles still use them. It's an definitely exhaust issue either way. Be careful that crap will give you a bad headache after a while.

I just find it amusing TMS is displaying food related ads on this page.

But I have noticed most cars with auto tranny gives off a smell under heavy acceleration similar to rotten eggs, not just mustangs, not sure if its the same smell you are describing
