The tranny is out of the car and the tech found something wrong with the planetary gear the parts are here and he should be putting it back together this week.
So that sounds like Ford is covering it under warranty, but like I said the tech didn't leave me confident that he knew what is really happening.

Got some good news yesterday, the part came in early. I suspect the fantastic Ford Customer Service team on here had a lot to do with that. I should have my car back tomorrow or Monday at the latest. Can't wait to see it again.

I have hope now. My MT82 is also locked out of 2nd. It just makes an awful grinding sound and just kicks the lever out of the gate something fierce. I made my own thread though.
