My #8 failured on my stock 5.0
My #8 failured on my stock 5.0
I've had the car since new for about a year and a half now. Just hit 15,000 miles and the CEL comes on so I borrow a buddies sct to read the code. It was a #8 Mis. UUGGHHHH so brought it to ford and they said the coil was bad. They ordered a new one and I brought the car in today after them saying it was PERFECTLY SAFE to drive and they tell me it didnt fix the problem. So this SAFE issue is now internal damage and they have to pull the motor. Not to happy about this. This car has yet to have a single aftermarket performance mod done to it. This is why I've only done suspension and visual.

I will say the dealer you are working with needs to learn how to correctly troubleshoot and diagnose. They should be collectively spanked for sending you home with an eight cylinder car that's only banging on seven holes. Telling you it's OK is just unacceptable. After checking the fuel flow and ignition data, they should have performed a cylinder leak check and a compression check to determine what's going on if electrical checks proved OK.
Best of luck to you,
John

It was his opinion that this was most likely a situation that would only arise when driven extremely hard. In my opinion, if it runs lean when driven hard, it likely runs lean most of, if not all the time. I'm not going to get into it any further than that.

Or does that pass the issue from #8 running lean to deficient cooling of the head in your opinion?
Lack of cooling has been brought up also.

No it's just that after having a 6.0 and doing a bunch of motor **** which voided the warranty it cost me 10 grand out of pocket to fix it after I lifted and cracked the heads. So this time I decided to wait for my warranty to end before putting performance stuff in it. Although that truck is still my favorite vehicle to this day.
