door handle issue?

It seehms like for 60% of the time I have to pull on the door handle twice to open the drivers side door, is that normal?? Im in florida so weather is in the 70s so its not because of the weather.

Is this normal or should I stop by a dealer

Inside or outside?

Never mind

I assume it's outside.

Not normal either way

This happens to me, but it's more like 10% of the time, not 60%. I've also read about other users experiencing this on forums, so we're not the only ones. What happens to me is:

1. Press unlock button on key fob (generally 1 time)
2. Tug on door handle, hear a click/clunk, door does not open
3. Release door handle back to car, door unlocks
4. Tug on door handle, door opens normally

I haven't quite paid enough attention to whether or not the window slides down during the first tug, though.

Strange. My car does this intermittently and I haven't been able to establish a pattern yet (same for the couple wonky Sync issues I encounter too).

Yeah i unlock with the fob
Try to open it and theres no click, i do it again and it opens.

Haha no girly arms, I had a passat and those things doors weigh twice as much as these doors.

I may be exagerating at 60% but yeah ill stop by the dealer and see.

Please post back in this thread if you get a response from the dealership. Mine happens infrequently enough that it'd probably be impossible to get it to happen in front of a service tech, so I'm interested to hear what they say about yours.

Hi mopar? and coachhoach,

Please make an appointment with your Ford dealer for diagnosis as soon as possible. Then, PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, best daytime number, and the concern your vehicle is having so I can escalate it to the customer service manager for your area.

This happens on my car too. If I press the unlock button once on the keyfob (to unlock only the drivers door) I will have to pull the door handle twice before the door actually opens.

If I press the unlock button twice on the keyfob (to unlock both doors) it does not happen, door opens on first pull.

Thought it might be a security feature to ward off thieves pulling door handles until they find an unlocked car. But there's nothing in the manual about it.

Hello mfc133,

Not sure if you saw my other post, but I also recommend you bring your vehicle in to your Ford dealer for diagnosis. Then, PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number so I can escalate this to the customer service manager for your area.

Sorry I missed your posts. I'll mention both items to the dealer on my next visit, but they're really just 'quirks' I noticed more than complaints. Still, it's good to know there's someone to help out in case we ever have a serious issue. Thanks again Deysha!
