Check Engine Light (CEL) - P0446

I searched for that CEL code and didn't find anything, so thought I'd post this for others who may run into it in the future:

Had a CEL come on in my '11 GT the other day and took it to the dealer for diagnoses. On the '05-'09 cars, it seems to show up once in a while but hadn't seen it in a 2010+.

Anyway, the dealer got it fixed pretty quick - here's what my service paperwork says:

"Customer states check engine light on runs ok. No aftermarket devices. Open circuit at the cannister purge solenoid verified light. IDS, P0446 in memory. PP test found VPWR circuit at the cannister vent solenoid corroded in two pieces. Replaced pigtail at the cannister vent. Retested on demand. Passed. Cleared DTC."

Can anybody tell me what all that means in simpler terms? Also found it interesting, but not surprising, that they listed "no aftermarket devices" - the service guy also asked me the same thing when I pulled into the garage.

Looks like a valve that opens and allows the canister to vent/suck to/from the atmosphere had a damaged elec. harness and needed replaced.

They need to at least identify any aftermarket parts that could cause the CEL......what they do after that is their decision.

Glad you got it fixed fast.
